Giving Thanks

by adustyframe ~ September 2nd, 2006

I am thankful for music. Specifically praise music.

There have been so many choruses and hymns that have spoken to my hurting heart over this time.

Many of them move me to tears. Many are just quiet comfort that minister to my spirit.

Sometimes they are a “place” that I go to when everything is turning black.

I have often had to say out loud “praise praise” and make myself sing a song or concentrate on the goodness of God.

I love this verse

Isaiah 61:3

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
I can take praise like a garment and wrap it around my heart, mind and spirit and it does wonders for a heavy spirit.

I also like to fill our home with praise music–letting it seep into every corner, floor board, and fiber. Our home needs to be filled and overflowing with praise to God. If not the spirit of heaviness will suck the life out of us.

    There’s something special about praise and worship music, I find it uplifts me and helps me feel more in tune with God especially first thing in the morning, kind of sets the tone for the whole day.
