Does God give us more than we can handle?

Does he?

I think so. Lots of times people like to say “God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.”

Well, I don’t agree. I think God indeed gives us more than we can handle. If I could handle it why would I need God?

This has been and continues to be so huge. It’s completely out of my control. I must daily place it in God’s hands and depend on him to handle it.

Me? I totally cannot handle this but my awesome powerful God can!

Thank you, Lord for being bigger than me. For knowing what lies ahead in all the twists and turns.

Thank you for loving me and holding me up when I can’t go on

Thank you for handling all the things that I simply cannot.

hmm that’s a tricky one. I have to agree with you that sometimes it does seem like it’s more than we can handle but we also need to remember that it’s those times that God never leaves us, he doesn’t go away and leave us to face things on our own and I’ve found that usually there’s a lesson for me to learn in there somewhere, hope that makes sense 🙂

Chonda Pierce was here last night. She talked about suffering and why we suffer. She said we try to control our lives the same way we try to control how we put together a puzzle. There are those of us who micromanage the process and don’t appreciate the others at the table who don’t work on the puzzle our way. But, when the puzzle of our life is done, and He has put in the last pieces & we gaze at “our” masterpiece, we see that because He has been doing His work, we don’t see the perfect us, we see His image in us.
I know my rendition is not so eloquent, but it helped me to see an illustration of what can happen through suffering.
Know that I am praying for you.

I fully agree with you. In fact, I included an entry about this idea in the devotional I wrote this past summer. I was in a situation where I found myself crying out to God, telling Him, “I don’t know why You think I can handle this situation!” Then it was as if He told me He knew I could not handle it – but He could and that’s all that matters!

  4. Jody, Because I'm Me

Hi there! I found this particular post through a web search tonight, as I was feeling completely overwhelmed by hurt and sadness. You’ve been on my mind so often. I hope things are going ok for you.

I’m a jumble of emotions … hurt, anger, resentment, joy, hope, happiness, loneliness, selfpity, and on and on.

I’m absolutely feeling like I have more than I can handle right now. It will get better, I know that, but I just don’t feel like I can do this life this way right now. I don’t know how to accept life “as is”.

Hugs to you and your son.

Isn’t that interesting that you found me through a search;)! I’m sorry you are hurting so much. It really stinks when we have to suffer because of someone else’s sin.
The biggest thing that helps me get through is to count my blessings and thank God for every little thing. It’s ok though for you to be hurt because what happened to you does hurt!
    Praying for you. ((hugs))
