I’m loving the library.
by adustyframe ~ November 15th, 2006Our library catalog has online holds.
Awesome. One of my up too late activities, is to search the library catalog for books we’d like to read. When I see cool books, I hop over to the library site to see what we can reserve.
We still take trips to the library to do the traditional library things. However, the time saving benefit is fabulous to me. I run in, swoop our books of the shelf, check them out on my 28 day teacher card and voila.
Books galore.
Just a small blessing but awesome nonetheless.
Tonight I reserved the Barefoot Book of Pirates and some easy readers. My son read his first easy reader this week. Watching his eyes light up as he realized he read a book all on his own was priceless.
I can’t imagine missing all this by sending him off to school.
(Oh and the money saving element is more than a blessing.)

Isn’t it great when you see the lights turn on in their heads? I remember that moment with my DS, who is now eight years old and reading chapter books (!).
I keep thinking I need to bake some brownies or something for the library staff at the end of the year, though, because I’m really keeping them busy with the online hold system. Job security, right?
