On being thankful
by adustyframe ~ November 21st, 2006I enjoy Thanksgiving.
*Family
*Focusing on God’s goodness
*A warm cozy day punctuated with laughter of friends and family.
Being thankful for everything has been a tremendous help for us in this trial.
I notice when I make note of blessings big or small, I have more peace.
Small blessing really is on oxymoron. Nothing that comes from God is small.
When I pray about needing money for birthday gifts, or an unexpected expense and God provides it is not a small thing.
I share blessings with my son. I don’t know how much he understands about how awesome our God is but I want to let him know that our prayers are heard by a mighty God that loves even a little boy.
Our November project for school is making a tree of thankful leaves. Each morning we decorate a leaf and label it with what we are thankful for.
This little project enforces in both of our minds how wonderful God is.
Some things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving–
*My wonderful Lord
*My husband and our love restored
*My precious little boy
*Health
*Every need met
*Friends
*Prayer support from friends that know us and those of you that don’t

This is the first Thanksgiving my husband won’t be semi present. Even though it has been 2 years, he wasn’t completely inacessible from us. This year he is.
It hurts. It hurts more than I’m willing to admit. We are staying home. Nesting inside our walls where there are reminders of Daddy all around.
The floors he refinished, the walls he painted, the things he made for us to make life easier.
His photo is on the piano, the fridge, the dresser, the bookshelf. He is here with us in his heart and we are staying put.
We’ll watch the parades. Watch some holiday shows. Read good books. Sleep in.
Eat a nice dinner.
We are thankful! We are blessed beyond measure. We are just going to stay home and miss our Daddy.

I am thankful for you reminding me to enjoy my husband and not get aggravated at the “little” things during his time off.
You have a talent for writing and expressing your feelings!
I do not not any background on your husband but can you expect him to be able to come home any time soon?
Still praying for you when the Lord brings you to mind.
You and your son have a blessed, snuggly Thanksgiving.
