Supplying every need
by adustyframe ~ December 18th, 2006I told you today how a lady at church offered to watch my son so I could get a few Christmas gifts.
I had a very small sum of money to spend today.
Part of it was for a bill that had to be paid. Part of it went to fix my piano.
I mentioned before that it needed attention. I prayed about it and felt peace that using some of the money to repair the piano was alright.
I took the rest and purchased a few small things for my son. I had a gift card to a department store so I used that. I got him nice things and was able to spend very little.
I went to the bank to make a deposit and when I came out, my car refused to start.
It only clicks.
I sat in my car and felt the hysteria threaten.
I said “Lord, I do not understand why this didn’t happen this morning before I spent that money. I am going to trust you to provide.”
Immediately the verse “My God shall supply all your need.” went through my mind.
Actually every time I’ve needed to pray for provision, God brings that verse to mind.
Also Matthew 6:32 … for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
I sat in the car with a sense of calm and peace. I called my father in law. He wasn’t home.
I called Pastor. He wasn’t home. His wife said she’d pick me up if I needed her to.
I prayed again.
I called the lady that was watching my son. She said she’d come pick me up.
Then she called back. Her husband just got home and he was on his way to see if it needed a jump. Pastor called he was on his way too.
(I have a super cheap prepaid cell phone, just wanted to clarify.)
Soon, they were there and the cables came out. Nothing.
Just clicking.
Pastor gave me his car for the next day or so.
I said, “Are you sure that’s not a problem?”
He said, “If I offered it to you then logically I don’t mind.” (Ok! I don’t think logically!)
My car is still sitting in that parking lot.
I am trying to get ahold of a nephew that works on cars.
I’m not quite sure how it will be paid for, but I know that God knows.
I picked up the ladies for Bible study in Pastor’s car tonight. I was telling one how I didn’t understand why that couldn’t have happened before I spent the money.
She looked at me and said “Well, don’t you think God knew that?” Then she grinned at me and said, “Or is that too simple for you?”
Yes. She is right. God knew and God has a plan.
I thank the Lord that I did have the first response to pray and to trust. That is progress.
In the past, I’d hyperventilate, fall apart, and THEN pray and trust.
So stay tuned to hear the works of God. Somehow my car will be fixed and it can only be because of his provision.

It is SO great that you have people to call on in time of need. And your Bible Study friend who said “Don’t you think God knew that?”
I have a hard time remembering that nothing is a surprise to our Heavenly Father.
)
Wow! Talk about RIGHT ON.
I will pray. I know how scared you are because I know how scared I would be.
God is in control. (wish I could remember that!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I check your site almost every day, and you are on my prayer list. I truly do thank God for all He has done for your family. Your story mirrors the story of Joseph so well, in my eyes. Although your daily struggles are sometimes heartbreaking, you have determined to submit yourself to God. Through it all, God is proving that as He was with Joseph, He is also with your family. I am looking forward to the day your husband comes home!
The main reason I decided to leave a comment today was that I read your explanation of your cell phone. PLEASE do not feel as though you appear to be a frivolous person, just because you own one! I’m sure that all the people who care about you are resting much easier, knowing that you have a means of contacting someone, if you are ever in an emergency situation.

Thank you ladies.
LisaG I know you are right and yet I’ve been in so many conversations about people who are poor having cell phones and internet. Somehow I feel that I need to say why I have these things.
Another post for another day I guess.
