Pray for my husband

by adustyframe ~ December 23rd, 2006

Pastor went to see him yesterday.

He said he saw some very big changes.

He said that my husband is looking forward to coming home and being a godly husband and father. He is reading and studying a lot. Pastor was encouraged by that.

Pastor was able to stay for 3 1/2 hours. I know that this visit meant very much to my husband.

Pastor has been a good friend to him. At one point, when my husband was still running from God, Pastor said to him. “I will always be your friend. No matter if you leave the Lord or not. I will be sad and I will pray for you but I will always be your friend.”

Pastor has sat in most court proceedings, counselled us, helped us, prayed, listened while I cried. He let me use his car to visit my husband this summer when our truck wasn’t dependable.

He has more than done his “duty”. He is truly a friend and godly pastor.

I know that he gave my husband much to think about and for a short while was his link to the outside world. I know that pastor’s visit was a huge bright spot on this hard weekend.

My son was worried that Dad wouldn’t get any Christmas gifts this year. I told him that his aunt sent Daddy some books and we sent Daddy some books and that Pastor was going to visit him.

“Oh well that’s sort of like a present.” my son said.

It is. Pastor’s Biblical counsel, prayers, and friendship are a precious gift from God.

We know that God brought us to this church many years ago, so that at this time, we would be under the ministry of this man. We are very thankful and pray that God will richly bless him for all he has done for us.

Pastor said that my husband has allowed the things that are wrong and unfair to make him bitter. I sort of knew that he was struggling with that.

It IS hard to not be bitter. I have to fight against it everyday. Even though my husband is not innocent, there are things that have been done that defy explanation.

Please pray that God will work in his heart and take away the root of bitterness. Please also pray that God will continue to soften his heart and make him completely usable.

Hebrews 12:15

lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

    I know when I dwell on what I didn’t want & didn’t expect, I start to nurture that root & cherish it, like I love it. Then, it grows & grows until it begins to choke me & control my mind. I will continue praying for your family.
