Calvary’s love

by adustyframe ~ January 8th, 2007

“Wherever you are spiritually, whatever you have been through emotionally, you are already wrapped in the Lord’s embrace. Held close by nail-scarred hands.” (quote from ‘Embrace Grace‘) ~ Liz Curtis Higgs ~

What a wonderful quote.

I just wrote about how long I have to go still.

I know that the Lord holds all three of us in the palm of his hands. He wraps his arms around us and whispers messages of love and mercy to us.

He is our El Roi the God who sees. He knows when we hurt.

He knows when I feel like I want this to be over. He wipes away the tears that come at night when the house is quiet. He hears my desperate prayers for help and strength.

He hears my son cry himself to sleep. Jesus knows when my son’s little heart is broken over the absence of his dad.

He sits next to my husband in a prison cell and wraps his nail scarred hands around him too. He whispers words of love and encouragement to him when he thinks he simply cannot do this one more day.

Jesus knows suffering first hand. Suffering far deeper and lonelier than what we are dealing with.

He sees. He hears. He knows. He gathers us into his arms and reminds of his love.

In our finite minds, we often choose to look at trials and say, “If God loves me, why?!”

I shared this quote before but it is one that continues to bless me and refocus my wandering thoughts.

“Calvary’s cross forever removes the if.”

15 Thoughts Shared to Calvary’s love

  1. Nic

What a beautiful contribution to this week’s IOW. Thank you for sharing your own experiences with such clarity that we feel you. Sometimes when we are down to the end of our rope it seems that we are all alone and it can be difficult to remember that God has promised that He will NEVER leave us or foresake us and yet He is always there with support, strength and comfort when we need it most.

  2. denise

Thanks for sharing your heart in such a very beautiful way.

He has opened the eyes of your heart…. and you see what really is.
He DOES hold all three of you….

    In a grip that won’t let go….

    Held there with you….
    All is gift,
    Ann

I have once again been brought back to your site and reminded of what it looks like to cling to the cross during our trials. Thank you for allowing God to use your circumstances to remind us of where our focus should be.

  10. Imperfect Christian

My circumstances are slightly different than yours, but the emotions are the same. You are in my thoughts and prayers, as is your son. May God hold you in your time of need and bring you the joy you deserve. Hang in there, you are not alone.

You made this quote come alive for me. Thank you for sharing yourself with me today. Blessings.

I have really appreciated your writing. My heart goes out to your family. Especially where your financial worries are concerned. Have you ever thought of putting Google Ads on your blog? My friend makes about $100 a month on her ad clicks. I know that I would come to your blog everyday just to click on ads! Here is the link to get you started https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-single-1. Please forgive me if I am being intrusive. But my family is just now getting out of a serious financial bind. I know what a difference $1-200 can make each month.
    My best to your family

  13. Amy

Thank you, I really needed to hear this today!

  14. Ame

    i’ve learned … it’s not “if”

it’s *because* God loves me so much that He allows humanity the freedom to choose, even when it hurts the innocent. and He cares for us and protects us all the way through, wrapped in His nail-scarred hands and safe, secure arms.

    your life is beautiful :)
