Hand Holding

by adustyframe ~ February 2nd, 2007

A few months ago, Daddy sent us his hand-print and asked us to trace our hands and send it back to him.

A few weeks ago, little boy asked if we could do that and keep it for us.

Of course!

So we traced our hands and sent it to Daddy.

We just got it back.

I look at it and see his hands. I miss holding that hand.

I see people walking down the street holding hands and my heart squeezes in my chest.

I see other Dad’s reaching out to hold their children and the tears threaten.

Someday, this will be in our past and we can touch Daddy’s hand for real.

For now we will treasure this hand that we have and thank God that he holds us all in his mighty hands.

I often think of how much I would miss holding hands with my husband. If God would take him home before me. Also I think of every morning he makes me coffee. Simple tokens of LOVE. I will continue to pray that your husband will be home soon. I think that is so precious that he desired to hold your hand in that way. Your son has a very special Daddy & Mommy.

I think keeping that posted on the fridge is a great way you can all be reminded of how much Daddy loves and misses you both. I love reading about all the ways you keep hubs involved in all the ‘little’ things going on at home — the travelling tic-tac-toe, grading school papers, etc. All those ‘little’ things aren’t so little after all.

    That is really sweet.

Oh, how you touch my heart! It makes me think, too, of how I long to touch my Heavenly Daddy’s hand one day. How I know He loves me, and I am shown in a million ways – but Oh! HOW I long to *hold* His hand!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It is touching our lives in ways you’ll never know!
