Snow day blessings revisted

by adustyframe ~ February 26th, 2007

Last night brought more snow.

Church was cancelled.

I woke up earlier than usual this morning and took my place on the couch to read my Bible.

Since I knew we didn’t have to rush around to get to Sunday School, we were lazy. I even snoozed for awhile on the couch again.

We finally plucked up our courage to face the snow. My back was whining before I even went outside.

Thankfully, the neighbors came over again. By the time Little Boy and I got outside, the neighbor man had almost cleaned out the snow plow packed driveway.

Then the neighbor did the front walk and my whole driveway and around the back of the house to our door.

I hardly had to shovel! What a blessing.

My back has hurt all day from the little bit I did. I am so thankful I didn’t have to do more.

When we were done shovelling, I cleaned snow off the car. I thought to myself,

“I hope no one shut the back door, I didn’t grab the keys.”

Sure enough. We were locked out.

I asked the neighbor man if he could break into my house. He teasingly whined and groaned. He looked at me cross eyed and said,
“Why are your storms all locked up tight?”
I said, “Cause I live ALONE.”

He was “casing the joint” trying to find an open window, when a van pulled up out front.

2 guys from church were making their rounds to see who needed their snow removed.

I hollered, “Well, I’m locked out if you want to help.”

They found a way in. (Thankfully, it’s not super easy to bust in.)

They fixed up the mess they made and were on their way.

I think it’s so neat that God sent helpers to remove my snow and helpers to get me back inside my house.

    Oh my gosh! How funny!

I’ve had to break into my own house before too. Usually it involved a small child crawling through a window I’d NEVER fit into…LOL!

    Glad you got in!

I can’t tell you how many times I have locked myself out of my house. Fortunately for me, one of my daughters lives close by and I have given her a key so all I have to do is call and hopefully she is home when I do!!!

Glad God sent helpers when you needed them!
