My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me

by adustyframe ~ March 3rd, 2007

This song has blessed me for years. When I was in Bible College, one of the voice professors would sing this. Her voice was incredibly beautiful. I got chills listening to her.

Unfortunately, I can’t bring you a beautiful recording of this lovely song, but at least you can hear the melody here.

**I had to laugh. After I posted this, I found a playlist on Rhapsody. So take your pick. It goes from Southern Gospel to swing but it’s all the same song. A little nicer than the first link I posted, nothing near my favorite voice professor’s rendition though.

Rhapsody list here

1.
I trust in God wherever I may be,
Upon the land or on the rolling sea,
For, come what may, from day to day,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

Chorus
I trust in God, I know He cares for me,
On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
Tho’ billows roll, He keeps my soul,
My heavn’ly Father watches over me.

2.
He makes the rose an object of His care,
He guides the eagle thru the pathless air,
And surely He remembers me,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

Chorus

3.
I trust in God, for in the the lion’s den,
On battlefield, or in the prison pen,
Thru praise or blame, thru flood or flame,
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

Chorus

4.
The valley may be dark, the shadows deep
But O, The Shepherd guards His lonely sheep;
And thru the gloom, He’ll lead me home
My heav’nly Father watches over me.

Chorus

Thank You for that beautiful hymn. What a wonderful reminder of His care as I awoke this morning. Isn’t the LOVE of our Lord wonderful, awesome, ever constant. Thank you again. Love you lizze.

  2. Helen

I think it is such a blessing, that all those hymns link us with the faith and hope of so many generations before us. I love old hymns and their texts!
Like you there are many songs that have accompanied me for years or came important to me years after I heard them for the very first time…
My favorite devotional “Streams in the Desert” by Mrs Charles Cowman carries lots and lots of hymns and has become a real treasure in my life.

  3. Susanna

Ahhhh shame, I can only listen to Rhapsody if I am in the US. Never mind!
