A little girl
by adustyframe ~ March 8th, 2007My son and I were shopping tonight for cleaning stuff, printer ink, etc.
I waited for him outside the bathroom while he ran in.
A little girl, a complete stranger was waiting for someone too. She looked up at me with sparking happy eyes.
“My brother just got out of xyz” (a juvenile prison)
“He’s coming HOME!”
I smiled at her and said, “That is so exciting. You will be so happy to see him.”
Then her family member came out of the bathroom and so did my son.
As we walked away, I couldn’t help thinking how excited she was. How she couldn’t wait for the homecoming.
I felt tears sting my eyes. Not that I was sad that our homecoming isn’t yet. I was sad for her. I was sad that another child knows how sad and hard this is.
Obviously I know that millions of children know how hard and sad incarceration is.
Her little happy eyes and delight over her brother coming home just seemed to sum it up for me.
I know that my little boy will be telling complete strangers too. News like that is too good to hold inside.

that just gasped the wind out of me. bitter sweet. happy sad. a little something sent from God to prepare you for such a time in the future. He is, you know; He is preparing you for the future – for a future when your husband does come home.

I so look forward to coming to “A Dusty Frame” and finding those very same words, “He’s coming HOME”. ((((((Hugs and Prayers)))))

My children often talk freely about waiting for their daddy to come home. It is a sad thing, these innocent children feeling such pain. One day, the reunion will happen for all of us going through this ordeal.
