Another request AKA How exciting can life get?

by adustyframe ~ March 21st, 2007

I visited my husband tonight. Three times in one week! Wow!

Our visit went very well. We talked quite a bit. We even prayed together before I left. He told me what he’s read since he got there last Thursday.

Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, and starting on Judges!

He said he’s kind of mad at himself for not reading those before. He found all sorts of good things.

One hitch I had tonight. I sailed through the metal detector and was already inside the visiting room. I used the restroom and realized I didn’t have the locker key. My car keys and driver’s license were in the locker.

Now usually when you leave the visiting room, you’re visit is over. I told the guard that I think I left my locker key at the checkpoint. I asked if I just had to leave.

He said no that I could go and come back. I was so happy! Thank you Lord!

I got down there and asked the guard. She said, “What number is it?” I didn’t know!

“Well, if you don’t know I can’t help you.”
I went and looked at the  lockers. I said, “I think it was#59” She held out the key to me.

I know they can’t just give out keys in case someone is lying and wants to steal. But what a close call!!

I tromped back to the visiting room rather stressed out.

My son was at Bible club tonight. The family that graciously took him for dinner and Bible Club brought him back home.

As I turned the corner to their street, the car skidded a bit.

Hmmm that was odd.

I heard a bumping as I drove the block to their home.

I got out and checked the tires. I didn’t see anything.

My son and I got in the car. Headed home.

Drove 2 blocks and BANG!

And no steering! I was 1/2 way in the intersection trying to turn and it wouldn’t go.

I reversed the best I could and called the home I had just left.

Her husband came down and got the car parked on the side of the road.

Diagnosis? Tie rod.

Well, God gave me this car right? So somehow He’s going to provide a way to fix it.

I’m not sure why things keep happening to it!  I just know I need to trust. There is some reason.

I do not have cash lying around waiting to be spent on auto parts. I actually was just praying that I’d have enough money to get a hair cut.

Hair cut $25/tie rod fixing $200 (hopefully not more!)

Hmmm nope no money sitting around for that.

I actually was quite composed and trusting the Lord at the time. The guy from church drove us home. He said if my nephew can’t work on it he will on Saturday.

I called the non-emergency police number to say my car would be on the street tonight.

She said they won’t give permission for broken down vehicles to be on the street.

(Does that make any sense to you!? What am I supposed to do with it?!)

So I will probably also have a parking ticket.

When we got home I remembered that I had tossed a bag of quarters (for vending machines in the prison visiting room)and my driver’s license on the front seat of the car.

So I’m also praying that God will protect my license. That sounds silly but I don’t need identity theft problems on top of all this! (lol)

My requests are

that I will trust God to provide.

That this could be fixed speedily. The previous times it’s taken a long time to get it fixed.

Since I’m at the mercy of others to be willing to help–can’t afford a garage–I have to wait til they are ready to help me.

That I won’t get a ticket.

I am counting my blessings too. It’s a blessing that didn’t happen when I was way out at the prison or anywhere else in town.  Or on the highway! That would have been very dangerous.

I was at a complete stop and just starting to go to turn left so it was a small deal. Also that I was so close to our friend’s home and he could help me.

Sometimes I wonder why blessings are wrapped up in stressful situations?

Lessons. I know!

I’m still learning.

Thanks for your prayers. I’ll keep you updated at what God will do  in this matter!

We’ll probably all be rejoicing and seeing his working very clearly.

Heavenly Father, I come to you this evening praising and thanking you for your love, comfort, and for the blessings we see every single day, and most of all thanking you for your son, Jesus Christ. I come tonight to lift up this loving wife, mother, and sister in Christ. Lord, I pray and ask Father, that you please place a hedge of protection around this family, around their home, their vehicle, their job, school, and the place her husband resides. I lift up their needs to you, the needs for repair or replacement of a vehicle, for the money they need for their home, utilities, bills, haircuts, and food. Lord, you promise in your word to never leave us or forsake us, and I truly believe you are with this loving family even now showing them your love, giving them peace, and that you will meet all their needs. I give you ALL thanks and praise your Holy name for your blessings and love. In Jesus name! Amen!

Amen, my friend! Why do blessings have to be wrapped in stressful situations!? I am SO with that. The only thing I can think of is that maybe, if they just “showed up” I wouldn’t recognize them as blessings.
I am SO sorry about your car. It is scary to have to rely on others and scary to be without transportation. I will definitely pray! I wish I wasn’t in the same boat and I could do more to help.
    Oh well. God knows!
