Phone calls

by adustyframe ~ May 5th, 2007

I’ve mentioned before how expensive phone calls from prison are.

Previously, we were paying approximately $7 per phone call. That was painful!

The service that contracts with the prison charges $8 just to accept my payment.

Yes, you read that correctly. I have to pay a minimum of $50 and they charge me $8 to make a payment. So I have to pay $58 to put $50 on the phone.

Lee cannot buy a phone card from the prison. We cannot use any other phone service.

The Lord graciously provided so that we could stay in contact with one another. Often it was through much prayer and at times several days with no phone calls.

When Lee was transferred here we hoped that phone calls would be less expensive but I couldn’t find out.

Today I got a statement in the mail and I was so excited!

Phone calls are only $1.25 now.

Woo hoo!

He still only calls a couple of times a week so that we can conserve money. However, he can now make 40 phone calls for the same amount of money that 7 calls cost us before.

Lee has begun praying with James when he calls at night. What a privilege I have to hold my son on my lap while his Daddy prays with him. I can hear Lee blessing our son and holding our entire family up before the throne of God.

Words cannot express how precious this is to me.

Oh this is so good for them to be able to do that! Actually even though you are holding James (not the phone) you are having family prayer time.

I am glad that the cost of the calls has decreased. I read the other post too. I hope that while people are concerned and caring for Lee and want to visit, that they will put your well being as a couple first.

Praying for all of the above.

Phone calls are expensive. When my DStepson was in jail, he wanted to call us every day and we felt terrible that we had to limit his calls. I am happy for you that the calls do not cost as much now. I know how important it is to be able to keep in touch, to see them, to hear their voice.
