Keep Playing
by adustyframe ~ June 26th, 2007My Titus 2 friend sent me this email last week.
“God is whispering in yours and Lee’s ears “keep playing, keep blogging, keep teaching, keep trusting, keep praying, keep loving”
Wishing to encourage her young son’s progress on the piano, a mother took her boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated, the mother spotted a friend in the audience and walked down the aisle to greet her.
Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually explored his way through a door marked “NO ADMITTANCE.” When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to
begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing.
Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage. In horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”
At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in he boy’s ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.”
Then leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child and he added a running obbligato. Together, the old master and
the young novice transformed a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was mesmerized.
That’s the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren’t exactly graceful flowing music. But with the hand of the Master, our life’s work truly can be beautiful. Next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen
carefully. You can hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.”
Feel His loving arms around you. Know that His strong hands are there helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces. Remember, God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. And He’ll always be there
to love and guide you on to great things.

That has been one of my favourite stories for a long time now.
You know, with this whole Paris Hilton thing, I couldn’t hel but think of you and Lee today. I mean, there isn’t going to be 1.5 million dollar offers coming to you guys for your story about life in prison (because 25 days is just, like, totally unbearable *sarcasm*) It just doesn’t seem fair. “Yay, she’s a celebrity… we’ll get atings because she broke the law. Lee____?? Who is he? What did he do? Who cares?” *sigh* When our society glorifies certain people for doing the wrong thing when we know there is a pretty good chance they won’t actually learn anythoing from it other than ‘don’t get caught next time’ but ignore the people who have truly learnt and repented from their mistakes and have something valuable to offer through their experience… when is anything going to change?
*shrug* It just irritated me, and for some reason, I thought it might have bugged you too. I prayed for you all today.

wow… I guess I should have spell checked that first *grimace* *grin*

Jenny;) Thanks for your thoughts. I don’t really care about Paris Hilton or any other Hollywood stuff;) But I did have to grin about the 23 days.

Beloved Lizzie,
I haven’t been by in a while and I’ve been so consumed with my own life that I have neglected praying for you. Forgive me. I am praying for you now and lifting you up before the throne of grace! This was a beautiful illustration, and I’m glad to read in the last couple of posts that you are doing better than you were before. I will be praying about the business, I hope you do find a buyer. I wish I could encourage you, but you already know the truth and you’re clinging to it with all your might. Just keep clinging. God will not fail you, and He loves your son even more than you. God will not allow Him to become another statistic. His promise is to cause all of this to work together for GOOD. Don’t bother with statistics! Fix your eyes on Jesus! I’m so glad you have a Titus 2 woman who knows when you need chocolate and I pray that your washing machine is better. And I do cherish my husband even more because of you. Thank you for that.
In Him,
Angel
