I should go away more often!

by adustyframe ~ July 8th, 2007

I came home to discover I have been given some awards in my absence.

I have to say that I do get excited because it’s an honor to know that the things I share here are appreciated.

I told Lee today though that it’s only God that this blog has any readers.

My other blog hasn’t ever been nominated for anything. (Oh my sister did nominate me once!) That just proves to me that this Dusty Frame belongs to him.

The excitement that happens here or lessons learned here is not because of me. If it were my other blog would also be well read and well nominated.

I am blessed that God is willing to use me. I shared some things about our life with the speaker at camp last week. He said, “God is using you and people need what you’re sharing. Perhaps you didn’t want to be used this way, but God can still use you.”

He’s right. If I could have chosen a story for my life and a basis for a blog, it would not have involved prison.

I am thankful that God in his infinite wisdom knows what we need and what we can handle.

I was nominated by the Headmistress at The Common Room for the Blogger Reflection Award.

This blogger has been nominated for other awards, and she will be again. You can’t read her blog and not be moved to pray, moved to cry a little sometimes, and encouraged to put your own life in perspective. I expect that there are times she gets tired of being all that. A friend of mine going through a plane crash of a marriage once told me on a particularly bad day, “I am just tired of being on everybody’s prayer list. I’d like to be in a place where my name on those prayer lists could be checked off as answered prayer.” Life isn’t always the pretty story in your Christian bookstore fiction. Lizzie blesses us all by blogging through some of the good and some of the bad.”

Patricia at Pollywog Creek also sent me this award.

She said,

“That Lizzie would take the time to cross the creek for a visit is also truly remarkable. Lizzie inspires me with her faith and strength as she walks through very difficult days that I fear I would not travel with the same grace. Lizzie, you are in my frequent thoughts and prayers, and I so appreciate you taking the time to leave your sweet thoughts in this place.”

I’m definitely a lurker over at A Dusty Frame, but I have to say that no blog has touched me as deeply as this one. As a single mother with her husband in prison, Lizzie tackles the hard days along with the good ones. She has moved me to see beyond the social stigma and have compassion for the families of prisoners. One thing I love about her blog is that she has taken pains to be anonymous. This brave woman could be anyone – she could be someone I pass walking down the street, or see on the train, or attending my church. God has spoken to me through this blog like no other, and I think you’ll find the same as you read through her posts.

I was also nominated by a new reader here for the Rockin Girl Award.rockingirlbutton.jpg

I’m not sure where this one started? But I thank you for your thoughtfulness.

She said,

” because her writings are so touching. They will really make you sit and think. She also has a variety of subjects to read on and some great ideas!”

I’m going to have to come back and “play” soon. I want to be thoughtful in the blogs I nominate. I just wanted to acknowledge your thoughtfulness and let you know I’ll be back to finish this soon.

Thank you.

Lizzie

Congratulations on your awards! I agree with the Headmistress…your blog is so honest and true that it makes people respond on a very basic, intimate level. Everyone who reads your blog can imagine themselves in your place, and that’s what makes us come back again and again. I hope you continue to blog for a long time to come.

Thank You for Sharing Your Thoughts
