Sunless Sun Tea

by adustyframe ~ July 11th, 2007

I haven’t done a Works for Me Wednesday in ages.

I was thinking about this one today as I made more tea.

I used to set the gallon jar out on the steps to make sun tea.

My mom told me you can do the same thing but just stick it in the fridge. No sun–no hot tea to cool off when you’re thirsty for a big tall glass!

I take the gallon pitcher and 8 tea bags. We’re using green tea right now.

Fill it with water, add the tea bags and put it in the fridge. Within a few hours, your tea is ready to go.

**We like to go out to the garden and get a sprig of fresh mint to add while the tea brews.

MMM!

That is how I make suntea also. DH likes his tea with lemon and sugar so to 1 gallon of suntea I add the amount of CountryTime lemonade powder that is required for 1/2 gallon of lemonade. It is just the right combination and we don’t have to “doctor” each glass.

Good tip. Tea’s made and cold at the same time, brilliant.

    Mmmm…sounds delish.

The local grocery store sells their sweet tea by the gallon with routine sales (buy one get one free), and it’s so sweet, I can’t drink it at all. Just the way he likes it. And I like my tea from the Starbucks. But if I ever made my own :) I’d be sure to make yours.
