I mentioned that the sessions at camp were wonderful and that I wanted to share the notes with you.

I will probably add them little by little.

Here is a summary of the Bible passages the speaker used.

*I need to forgive others as God has forgiven me Eph 4:32

*I need to have God’s perspective on forgiveness Rom. 5:1-11

*I need to accept others as they are, recognizing that I too, have idiosyncrasies Eph 4:2

*I need to be ready to receive the sincere request for forgiveness (as often as it is requested) from those who have offended me. Matt. 18:21,22

*I need to remember that I offend God and others and need to seek and accept forgiveness for my wrongs. I Jn 1:9

*I need to release my own desire for revenge and trust God to handle any need for judgment. Rom 12:19

    Sara, you are welcome.
The speaker said feel free to use anything because he probably stole the good stuff from someone else;) But it all comes from God.

I will be typing up MUCH more on forgiveness, this was just the summary.

I need to forgive others as God has forgiven me — “Who am I to demand more of others than Christ’s forgiveness?” (Ravi Zacharias)

    These are very good.

One thing that has helped me with forgiveness is the parable of the servant in Matthew 18:23-35 who was forgiven a great deal and yet wouldn’t forgive someone else a smaller debt. I’ll never forget when it “hit” me that that’s exactly what I am doing when I don’t forgive someone — God has forgiven me so much more — my offense against Him was so much greater than anything anyone could do to me. When I think about that and not about the person and what they did and whether I think they “deserve” forgiveness, it makes it so much easier.

i often pray the verses, “Lord, enable me to get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Enable me to be kind and compassionate toward one another, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven me.” it’s a staple prayer of mine :)

Thanks for this very helpful list. It’s always great to see such verses together. They speak to each other and me!
Thank you, Sandy for letting me know it was a help to you.
