An email from my Titus 2 friend

by adustyframe ~ September 6th, 2007

My Titus 2 friend and her husband went to see Lee on Wednesday.

She emailed me a report. Which I LOVE to get by the way. Her email was a great encouragement to me today.

She said I could share it with you.

Dear Lizzie,
Your blog writing of friends so touched me this morning.  I identified with how
you feel.
Maybe it is that we want everything to be right or as it should be in
our lives as Christians.  Also how it should be in the lives of our family
members.
I am so glad that when the Holy Spirit inspired writers of God’s word
they didn’t leave out what we might think of as the bad part of  some Bible
characters lives.

God could still use David,
He still used the Harlot,
Sarah laughed at God,
Abraham thought he was to old to have a child.
God uses people who didn’t always honor or obey Him.

In our own lives there have been times when we didn’t walk as close to God as we should.  Anyway it is hard to share some of the not fun or God honoring situations in our lives, because of what we feel others will think or say.  I am struggling right now with if I should write a Christmas letter this year.  All our friends tell us they love to get updates, but do we tell them (she shared some things that I already know and pray for her about)  .  I have appreciated that I can share with you and Lee and you don’t judge. You show real love. Please believe me that really means a lot.

Our visit with Lee went well.  We played two games of Scrabble and he shared
some of his concerns if God really cares.  I guess we talked to him as loving
parents would.  We could tell his frustrations, anger, & bitterness.  In a real
sense his voicing those things can get them in the open and help him let them go
to God.  We pray that is what he will do.
We LOVE you all which I have told you many times.  God will help you all to get
through this terrible trial.
In His Love,

Having a friend like her is truly a huge blessing to me.

I agree with your friend… so many examples in the Bible of struggling. I have a pastor friend who says that he believes God intentionally gives us MORE than we can bear in order to force us to rely on Him. Because, in the end, we’re all struggling. It’s just that some of us acknowledge it more often than others.

Yes, I honestly believe God does give us more than we can handle. If we could handle it would we need him?
