One scene in Shrek2 is really offensive and my kids, having heard my objects, fast forward past it. I'm not sure how old James is, but I'm guessing from what I've read he's well under 10. Of course, most of what is objectionable went sailing right over my kids heads. They are aimed more to the adults. As for "Care Bears" my daughter collected them for a while, but the cartoons were pretty insipid and never held their interests. I've always said no to Pokeman and that sort of thing, although to calm the cravings I let my son have a cache of cards someone offered. They were "cool" for a week or two and he moved on and gave them away to someone else!! That said--what a great job James did!!! It's tough to go against the others. What is funny is my daughter is now even more conservative about such things than I was. I was asked recently how my son turned out so well, considering all the trials we have gone through. I told the person I really believe it was BECAUSE of going through the trials that has made him strong in his faith. We do not do any form of magic at all. That is neat when you see your children place value on their relationship with you instead of choosings instant gradification. Hug that boy!
