I realized recently that visiting Lee is like my part time job.
While I don’t receive monetary rewards, our marriage which is my priority,
reaps eternal benefits.
I am able to visit Lee 3 times per week. I usually go twice a week, however.
Visiting hours don’t start until the afternoon on weekdays, and I work until 6 pm.
Here’s how I figured out that this is like a part time job.

Arranging child care 15-30 minutes
Dropping James off and picking up 45 minutes
Driving to the prison 45 minutes
Waiting in line 30 minutes
Waiting for Lee to get to the visiting room 30 minutes-1 hour
Visiting 2-3 hours depending on the day, so a total of 6-9 hours weekly

 

So visiting Lee is a minimum of 8 3/4 hours to 12 1/2 hours weekly.
I’m not equating visiting my husband to a chore, just sharing how visiting him impacts my week.
Often, while pondering my need to remove things from my schedule, I’m at a loss.
What to remove? Almost every thing I do is valuable and necessary.
Visiting my husband is certainly at the top of this list.
