Being Frugal
by adustyframe ~ October 19th, 2007Here’s my tip for Crystal’s Frugal Friday.
I am also cheating combining to use it for her Super Saving Saturday on her Money Saving Mom’s blog.
My frugal tip is this.
I work until 6 p.m. each weeknight. I’m trying to be more disciplined and have dinner ready to go, or in the crockpot. However, one day last week, I didn’t have anything ready. I was very tired and had to drive across town to pick James up from his friend’s house.
My car would pass several fast food restaurants. I do not have money to spend, but I was sorely tempted.
So I decided to lock my purse in the trunk. I couldn’t zip in the drive through with my purse in the trunk! It’s hard to be disciplined when you’re tired, so I helped myself out a little bit.
My Super Savings Saturday stuff is thanks to Crystal taking time to post about the Walgreens deals and what’s the best way to take advantage of their sales.
I got this at Walgreens for $ 35.00. The original total was $67.80. Then I got the $10.00 back on the Herbal Essence shampoos, I will get $12.00 (something) back on the rebate. I opted for the 10% more on a gift card. And I’ll get the spa certificate all for $13.87. Pretty great I think. It might be close to one of the best Walgreens trips I’ve had. I didn’t purchase things that we won’t use. There were some other deals but I didn’t want to spend any more out of pocket.
Then last week at the thrift store, I found a Longaberger cracker basket.
I haven’t purchased Longaberger since I was a single full time working girl.
According to the Longaberger site, it’s a $29.00 basket. I wonder how much the liner is?
It was a whole .50. I snatched it up so fast you would have laughed at me. It also included a Christmas fabric liner, but I’m not using that right now. It’s in my scrapbook area right now.
Pretty great bargains I think.

You are too funny! I just got back from Walgreen’s and posted about it on my blog too!I’m really getting into the CVS/Walgreen’s bargains lately. Also planning my menu and grocery shopping much better thanks to your tips!
Wow…enjoy that Longaberger basket. I don’t own any – too rich for my blood. But at .50, that’s a steal! Congrats!

Good deals! That looks like one of the Longaberger bread baskets. If it is I love those and use mine all the time.

OOH Longaberger, I love that stuff! I have one basket I recieved for a birthday gift but I would never fork out that much money for a basket! Indeed that was an excellent deal! You could probably resell that baby on Ebay for a handsome profit!
I thought about selling it;) But I also decided it was a special something nice for me at a price I could afford! So I’m just going to enjoy it.

What a great idea about putting your purse in the trunk! That extra little effort it would take to get it out can save tons of money (plus, you’ll eat better). I’ll have to try that one myself
