I am an Avon Representative. I love it! It costs only $10 to start & the person who signs you up is there to help you all along the way. I love it because my 5 year old daughter is a great help passing out brochures & carrying Avon stuffed animals, etc.(she is a great sales tool) You never have a quota to meet with Avon. It is very flexible. It is something you can sell to your friends & family who don't live around you as well. I will pray that the Lord will guide you in what you can do to help add to your income. I know that Avon is not for everyone, but I sure love it.

(Long time lurker, first time post.)

I found a lot of ideas at this site.
http://www.amazingmoms.com/htm/partywestern.htm

I think the secret to the theme is to have *everything* (as best you can) be in that theme. A bandana and cowboy hat for the birthday boy - for others if it's possible financially. Maybe bake cupcakes and purchase "western" candy toppers - or even print out cute clip art and you can tape them to a toothpick and insert it in the cupcake. Have coloring pages with a western theme as an activity while you're waiting for guests. Pin the badge on the sherriff as a game or a bean bag toss into a boot or cowboy hat. You could have them play tag and the "it" has to wear a black hat because he's the bad guy, etc...

You know, these ideas are not new, but give it a twist with your western theme.

Best wishes to you and your family. I check your site every day and I pray for you as your page loads. Wanted you to know.
Lisa Kay

<strong>Lisa, I've seen people coming to my blog from yours;) I didn't realize you've never commented. Thanks for de-lurking--don' t be a stranger!</strong>

Check out thrift stores for cheap cowboy hats for all the guests. Cheap red cowboy scarves. Hay bales. Build a Chuck wagon facade behind your BBQ and serve hot dogs and beans. Too much? How about some troughs and brooms for pretend horses? I'm having too much fun here. Whatever you do enjoy!!!

I work from home as a notary. I do mobile notary work for those who aren't able to travel, meaning that I go to their home, nursing home or hospital to do their notarizations. This may not be practical for you, depending on your kid's ages, but it's a great way to get out and about and to meet people in your community.

Happy birthday to the young man! Oriental Trading Company has all sorts of Western stuff for party bags. The dollar store usually have some nifty stuff, too, like little plastic cowboy and indian men. Instead of pin the tail on the donkey, you can pin the badge on the sherriff or the mask on the lone ranger. You could make stick horses out of brown grocery bags stuffed with newspaper, string or yarn for hair, and sticks or dowels for the body. Of course hot dogs and baked beans are the usual fare for cowboys (and carrots and apples for their horses). I save money on the paper products by purchasing napkins to go with the theme and plain cups and plates in a corresponding color. Cake mixes are on sale everywhere right now. Check out familyfun.com for cake shape and decorating ideas. Oh, cowboy parties are so much fun!

My son had a cowboy party for his 3rd birthday. We went to a horse riding school and for $75 each child got to ride a horse. We played horse shoes, we had a horse pinata, we played the theme music from the movie Toy Story, and each child had a cowboy hat as a favor. It was tons of fun!
