Marriage Seminar ~November

by adustyframe ~ November 25th, 2007

Lee and I enjoyed this time together a few days ago. Life has been so crazy lately that I didn’t get to post about it.

I thank you for your prayers for my health issues. They were greatly appreciated.

The facilitator had us go around the circle and share what we’re going to be doing this winter or what we like about winter. I said I’m going to be knitting.  Winter is not my favorite season.

Then they discussed communication do’s and don’ts.

Communication has been a weak spot in our marriage. I was so blessed when I shared this with my Titus 2 friend and she said it’s a weak spot in their marriage too! I am glad to hear that we’re not the only ones that have to work on this.

We went through the list and then we sat as a couple to work on our list. We had to write down what we’re good at and what we need to work on.

Lee and I were very honest. The part of this that blesses me so much is that we were very calm and loving even while sharing hard things. There were no hurt feelings only a sense of awe at how good God is that we are able to talk freely and openly much easier than we could before.

He shared with me something he thinks I need to work on. He kept saying, “I don’t want you to be hurt.” I wasn’t hurt at all and I was thankful that he shared with me. He gave me permission to discuss it with my Titus 2 friend and I did so later. I thank the Lord that I was able to receive these hard words  with the spirit of love in which he spoke them.

For lunch, they served–roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, biscuits, Swedish meatball soup, salad, turtle cheesecake. It was yummy!  We sat with one of my new friends from the Bible study. That was nice to get to know them a little bit better.

In the afternoon, we watched another Gary Smalley video. This one discussed using word pictures to share feelings.

Once again, it was a very nice day. God is good.

2 Thoughts Shared to Marriage Seminar ~November

  1. Beth

    Lizzie,
I am so glad that God has provided to have
the seminars for all the married couple at the prison. Communication and money
problems rank among the highest in marriage problems. Some times I think the
money problems are because of a lack of communication. It surprises me that
usually when we do discuss something about money or a bill that God gives us
both the exact same solution or amount that we should do. God is so good.”

  2. Joy

It’s awesome the way the Lord is working in your marriage. I’m praying for you both..and the little guy!
