Attitude Adjustment

by adustyframe ~ January 16th, 2008

I am still adjusting to the new life we have. I feel like often I am busier now than I was before, although the stress level is certainly lower right now.

This evening, I dropped James and his friend off at AWANA and on the way home, I felt so upset. I was feeling grouchy, worried, and disgruntled about all sorts of things.

I have no clue why! Nothing had happened. Nothing should have twisted my attitude up so badly.

I had a lot to do before I had to pick the boys up so when “You should take time to pray” went through my mind I ignored it.

On the way into the house, my attitude took over and I couldn’t believe how grouchy I felt..I struggled just slightly with the to do list and my need to pray.

Since my attitude was inexplicable, I had to think this was spiritual and I needed to pull out the armor.

I went into the house and knelt at the couch. I shared with the Lord quite a few things that have been bothering me. I asked him to help me to obey in my actions and attitudes.

I took time to praise him for his awesome provision and care for us.

Then I read my Proverb for the day–Proverbs 16 for the 16th–and some more of Changed Into His Image.

What an amazing difference.

My mom used to ask me “Do you need an attitude adjustment little girl!?”

Tonight this little girl definitely did. I am so thankful that my Father loves me enough to help my change my attitude.

I often find myself w/ these “weird attitudes” too; it is a spiritual thing!! Getting in the habit of spending time with God first thing in the morning (reading the Bible and talking to Him, even if it’s just a couple minutes) helps me. If I “leave it ’til later”, often I never go to Him and then find the stress and grumpiness build up like you said, for no apparent reason.

Hope your “attitude” is good today, ’cause Jesus loves you!! :)

Such a good point to spend time with him 1st thing! That was definitely the problem that day.
