Some blessings
by adustyframe ~ January 23rd, 2008This past week, I’ve been so full of thankfulness.
My Mom taught us to see blessings and to be aware of God’s working in our lives. I’m so thankful for this habit she instilled in us. I “think” that I’ve always been grateful for my blessings.
This week though I feel REALLY thankful. It’s so wonderful to have a warm home and a heater that works.
It’s wonderful to have friends. It’s such a blessing to have shoes and a coat. It’s a blessing to have things to do and physical strength to do it.
God is so good.
My car is being cantankerous in the cold weather. I’m praying that it’s only the cold–it’s been very cold here–and not another malfunction.
It hasn’t started since Sunday. I asked Pastor if he could ask any of the men if they’d look at it. Hopefully someone will step up tomorrow and pop over here to tell me what to do.
Not having a car isn’t so bad when it’s very cold. I don’t want to go out anyway! It’s also not so bad when I don’t have somewhere to be everyday at a certain time.
So I’m counting my blessings about the car too.
Yesterday, I had to mooch a ride to our gathering. I told James on the way home that we had to shovel as soon as we got home. I didn’t even find out how much it snowed–a lot is a good answer.
When my friend pulled up to the house, the front walk was clear. So was the driveway! The end of the driveway after several passes by the snow plow is the worst part of shoveling.
I felt like bellering a “PRAISE THE LORD” throughout the neighborhood. As James and I shoveled the sidewalk to our backdoor, I prayed that God would bless whomever helped us out.
I think I’ve shared here that I have an old neck injury. Shoveling really causes me a lot of pain. What a blessing that I didn’t have to deal with that yesterday.
Today in the mail, we received our YMCA membership. Our community has a scholarship to help people who can’ t afford to pay the membership fee. I finally applied–after much urging from James. We will pay $3 a month.
So as soon as the car gets fixed, we’re off to get fit.
I think that it’s good to have my cup full of blessings and brimming over. I think it’s even better to thank God for each one and to share his wonderful works with others.
