All’s Well That Ends Well
by adustyframe ~ February 6th, 2008I got to visit Lee today. Since he was in segregation, he was allowed one 1 hour visit per week rather than up to three 3 hour visits.
I was anxious to at least see him today.
On the way to the prison, I turned off the radio and prayed and thought.
I decided that if we have to miss the marriage seminar due to this fiasco, I was going to be one very unhappy girl.
When I got to the visiting room, I asked the guard if I had to go in the booth for a segregation visit. He said, “Nope. Go sit down.”
Hmmm…. I sat at the table just knowing that one of them would come over and say, “Ooops we read your sheet wrong. To the booth with you.”
Sure enough, I heard our last name and heard them discussing something and a guard walked over to my table.
“Lee is picking up his property in seg. He’ll be up but it will take quite a bit longer.”
WOO HOO!!! I had no clue that he had been released from segregation.
He finally came up. It was so wonderful to be able to give him a kiss and get a hug.
He had so much to tell me.
He was released from segregation last night. Neither he nor the instigator was written up for the incident.
The old “cellie” was moved to another unit, and Lee was returned to his former unit. One of the guards told Lee “There’s a reason that you came back and he didn’t.”
Lee said all the guys wanted to talk to him. The rumor was that Lee was stealing his cellie’s canteen (stuff like hot cocoa, chips, ramen soup) and so he stabbed Lee over it.
Lee showed a few guys his account sheet that shows how much money he makes and that he didn’t need to steal ramen. (Hey .42 and hour is BIG money in prison. Lots of the jobs are .05 an hour.) So they passed the word that no one has to worry about Lee stealing their stuff.
Lee filled out a complaint form for his missing property. It ended up being an Unger’s Bible Dictionary, John MacArthur study Bible, and his calligraphy book.
When he went to the guards to file the complaint, they found his missing items. (VERY interesting if you ask me.)
The fame of his stabbing has been heard far and wide. Lee said supposedly his neck was slit, some said his face was slashed up–good old gossip game in action.
He was able to assure them that it only ended up in a busted knuckle and he’s fine.
He went back to work today. His boss was surprised and said most guys don’t get out of the hole that quickly.
Some of the guards in the kitchen said, “That was you!? I heard all about it but I didn’t know it was you.”
So, he’s back in general population and happy to have more freedoms.
During our visit, one of the nicer guards came over to our table.
“So what happened?” he asked.
Lee filled him in on the story and the guard laughed and joked with him. He said sarcastically, “I can’t imagine something like that happening here.”
The prayer request is still for his safety. The man who tried to stab him works in the kitchen. Lee works in the bakery and said that he has to walk through area where this guy works on a regular basis.
He met with the head of the kitchen today and aired his safety concerns. He hopes he doesn’t have to watch his back all morning.
While I’m very relieved that he’s back to normal now, it does concern me that this former cellie will be working in close proximity to my husband on a daily basis.
Please continue to pray with me that Lee will be kept safe while he’s at work or walking to and from work.
Thank you for praying with me about the investigation and his quick release from the hole.
We prayed together before I left.
Lee thanked God for the time away to listen to God and have more time to spend with him. He said, “Maybe this was just what I needed.” He prayed that he would be a husband who loved me like Christ loved the church and that he would be submissive to God’s will.
I’m thinking that “the hole” did my husband a world of good.

How like the Lord to work all things together for good!! I’ll be praying for his safety.
Exactly. I knew God was up to something when Lee was so peaceful about being there. Thank you for praying for his safety.

What an ordeal! I’m so glad it worked out, and will be continuing to pray for your husband’s protection! I haven’t been by in a couple of weeks, but I’ve thought of you often. There are a few men who regularly minister at the large prison here in Indiana, and just this weekend, my husband went to the Juvenile prison with them to lead worship. He said it was a really good time and he was able to connect with some of the boys. I am hopeful that he’ll do even more.
Thanks for your encouragment on my blog today!
Grace and Peace,
Angel
You are welcome. Thanks for stopping by and for thinking of us:)

Glad to hear he’s out of the hole. It’s good that he got to have some of his things while he was there.
Still praying.
