James’ Wonderful Blessing
by adustyframe ~ April 1st, 2008My son is all boy. He’s high-energy. He loves to be rude (belching, etc).
He likes to tease. He is a kinetic learner–always moving. He can by sassy and pushy and he and I work on lots of things.
However, he is a wonderfully compassionate little boy. He has on many occasions blown me away with his tender heart.
He has done some huge things in his little life to care for others.
For a couple of years, he has noticed the commercials on TV for Christian Children’s Fund or other charities helping Third World countries.
He has wanted to sponsor a child for a very long time.
I didn’t know which charity to trust and we didn’t have extra money in the budget. I told him that someday we will try to figure out a way to do this.
Last year, I went with a friend to see Ken Davis. Part of his show was sharing about Compassion International. I was heartened to find a trustworthy Christian charity.
This year, many blogs blogged about Compassion and some bloggers got to check out the charity in action.
I have prayed since then that we could soon find a way to choose a Compassion child.
Last week through a little blog conversation, Transition Girl offered to send James the fee to sponsor a Compassion child for one year.
Wow! I was so excited to tell James.
He and I looked at Compassion’s website. He wants to choose a boy in Africa that is near his age. As we looked, he asked what the red ribbons were. I explained to him that these children live where there is a disease that makes many people very ill. (AIDS).
We read about how Compassion helps to change these precious lives.
James said, “Am I weird or do I have tears in my eyes?”
Aww! He’s so tenderhearted and I am so blessed to see my son’s care for others. We don’t have much money but he has everything he needs. He realizes that he is blessed and he can’t wait to be able to share blessings with his Compassion child.
When we share this blessing with others, he says, “I want a boy from Africa with a red ribbon that has been waiting for more than 6 months.”
Thank you, Transition Girl for your generosity. You have blessed my son and given him a wish that he has had for a long time.

It’s always a blessing to be able to be used by the Lord.
I’m excited for James and the little kid that he’ll be ministering to.

How wonderful! What you wrote reminded me of the first time my oldest son was so touched by something, he cried–they surprise themselves (and us!).
