I had help today
by adustyframe ~ April 5th, 2008We have a huge maple in our yard. It provides wonderful cooling shade.
I love to sit outside in the summer and hear the wind rustle through its leaves.
However, it has a detestable habit of dropping its leaves after the snow falls. This means that we have a big raking job to do in the spring.
I don’t remember whether or not I’ve mentioned this here, but I have an old neck injury.
Repetitive movements–like raking–cause me a lot of pain. I asked my brother if they wanted to visit us and rake! They have had some busy weekends and can’t make it up.
I told this story in passing to my Titus 2 friend.
This afternoon, I told James that we had to at least rake the front yard. I decided that if I did a little bit at a time, it would get done eventually with (hopefully) minimal pain to my back.
We walked out ready to get started and found my Titus 2 friend and her husband raking our front yard. They were almost done!
We all worked together and finished 1/2 of the backyard too.
Later, James played outside and I read a book for awhile. We also played a game of croquet.
As I looked around our almost cleaned up yard, I realized what a burden the “needing to rake” had been for me.
What a tremendous blessing to have help.
