We are almost finished with our school year. We may finish up in April, but most likely it will be the first part of May.
We schooled all summer last year, so we’re definitely ready for a break. I haven’t decided how much school we will do this summer. I did like the cushion summer schooling provided.
James is almost done with his Math book. We finished our astronomy study a few weeks ago.
This year has been good. I love seeing all the things he’s learning. I’m learning too!
We have worked really hard and he’s making great progress.
He’s doing well in piano lessons. He’s reading music now. I’ve been very relaxed about making sure he gets a new lesson every week so he’s going slower than a paid student would. Oh well!
He enjoys poetry. We’re reading from The Oxford Book of Children’s Verse. Some of them are quite silly!
We’re also reading Peter Pan right now. I’m enjoying it. I always knew the basics of the story, but I hadn’t read the book.
We’ve been adding people to our timeline notebook. It’s interesting to see how the people we’re studying overlap with others we’ve already learned about.
Our church has had quarterly homeschool nights to give the children an opportunity to present something they’re learning.
Each child has a table to lay out books or projects for everyone to see. Then they can present something in front of everyone.
James is shy like I am, so he didn’t present until our meeting last week. He showed everyone his stances he’s learned in Tae Kwon Do. Then he counted to 10 in Korean.
It was neat for me to see him in front of everyone. He was a little nervous but he did very well.

One thing you might tr over the summer is having him make a list of things he would like to learn more about. I did this with my grandchildren for several summers….we called it “NANA CAMP”. One thing we did every year was they filled out a form with some of the same questions every year….what do you like to do? who is your best friend? what is your favorite food? well you get the idea….besure to date each one…..it was sooooo much fun as they got older to go back and read the ones from when they were younger….they loved reading them too. God Bless, Pam, South Bend
Great ideas! Thanks.
I am not a public-speaker, LOL~sounds like he did great!
