Easy Bake Oven Fun
by adustyframe ~ April 16th, 2008James discovered my Easy Bake oven in the basement and wanted to know what it was.
My Easy Bake is brown and orange. Can you guess what era it was when I got it?
I showed him and he thought it was the coolest thing ever, but he couldn’t use it. Somehow my pans didn’t get saved with it.
Last week, we were at Target and I found a kit of just pans and a mixing bowl for the oven. They are pink, but James said he didn’t care as long as he could play with the Easy Bake.
He has been baking cookie dough. We looked at mixes at Walmart the other day. Can you believe they are $5!
That’s crazy. I told him I’m sure we can find something online and sure enough.
Here and here are just 2 sites I found with Easy Bake recipes. Much kinder to the budget!
This definitely works for me.

*Also I’m cheating and using this for Crystal’s Frugal Friday. See more tips here.

Since we’re very close in age, I think that was the same era as “harvest gold” and “avocado green”.
We don’t have an EZ bake oven, but those recipes are perfect for little ones!

That is so funny! I had one as a young girl growing up and we would play with it all the time. When my parents outgrew there first micro wave oven they gave it to us kids and we would play with that too until my brother put a pair of metal pans in and almost burned down our house. Boy, did my daddy give him a woopin! One other thing we did with the Easy Bake was to increase the size of the light bulb to 150 wats. My brother and I were able to cook a frozen pizza. Oh was it good! Ours even started to smell because my brother once again was melting catapillar’s. Yuck!
You are lucky you still have your oven. I want to find one like I had back in the 70′s It seems better than the ones they make today.
