Some things I’m looking forward to
by adustyframe ~ April 28th, 2008When Lee leaves prison there are a lot of things I will not miss.
I am looking forward to a few things. I’m being a bit silly here, and yet they are annoyances that I won’t miss.
1. I am looking forward to talking to my husband without the following repeated interruption, “this call is from a correctional institute.” (Like I don’t know that already)
2. I am looking forward to printing things off the internet and not having to snip all traces of it being from the internet. (The web address, date and time it was printed, etc). He can have these things, unless I leave the internet information on it.
3. I am looking forward to wearing a bra that might beep in the metal detector. I’m tired of my old non-beeping one.
4. I am looking forward to not paying .75 for a can of soda or bag of chips.
5. I am looking forward to letters from my husband without huge red notes that say “This item has been mailed from the XYZ prison system.”
6. I am looking forward to not seeing razor wire.
7. I am looking forward to not seeing prison guards.
8. I am looking forward to walking through doors that don’t slam shut with a loud bang.
9. I am looking forward to seeing my husband in real clothing.
10. I’m looking forward to being alone with my husband (I hope! I can dream right?)
I am looking forward to so many more things than this. Most of these aren’t the worst things about prison.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing what our marriage will look like from this time forward. I believe it will look much better than it ever did in the past.

Oh I feel excited for you!!
I am sure that seeing this part of your life closing is a good thing. But I don’t need to tell you that. You’re positive attitude yet openness really has encouraged me.
I will be praying for you during this time of change.
Thank you!

I am so excited for you all, Lizzie. Thinking of you and praying for you daily!!!
Today is moving day for us. Out of the longer-than-we-thought temporary stay with the inlaws and into our new little country house. I’ll send an e-mail update soon.
Hugs to you all!
Thank you, Christy. I hope moving day went well for you!

Love the image of the beeping bra!! Will he be able to wear his own clothes when he moves? That would be a nice thing I’m sure.
Yes I think he will.

This just came to me Lizzie…..how about buying Lee a watch as his “moving out” gift. It wouldn’t have to be expensive or even new…but get the inscription on the back “the best time is time spent with you”. I did this for my husband when we got married.

lol at #3. If it is any consolation none of mine would beep as underwired is not good for b****t feeding!
I love your last comment- your marriage is going to look very different from what it used to.

I have followed your story for a while, I found you through The Covering. My husband was in prison for a year and a half. He got out back in Oct and is now back on a technical violation and some extenuating circumstances. I can feel all those feelings in my heart. Makes me tear up, I wanted to tell you what an inspiration you have been to me and how your testimony has pulled me through some really tough days. Thank you and please know that prayers are being sent and that I am standing in the gap fervently praying for all of you!
Sarah, Thank you for letting me know you’ve been reading. I’m sorry that your husband is back in. That is something that we are concerned about. The technical violations can be REALLY small. I appreciate your prayers.
