Job search

by adustyframe ~ May 28th, 2008

Lee’s job search isn’t going so well. He’s applied at many places and hasn’t had call backs.

He said the conversations go like this–

“We have jobs available in the following areas…..”

Then Lee fills out the paperwork and goes to talk with someone.

They read over his paper and see he has a criminal record and the jobs that were just available become non-existent.

“Well thanks for applying, but you know the economy is tough right now.”

He’s getting discouraged. He and I both know that God has a job for him and that he will be hired in God’s timing.

It’s difficult for Lee to be unemployed. He’s written me a couple notes and cards and he always apologizes for not having a job.

That hurts my heart.

I am thankful that he’s motivated to work and that he’s trying to gain employment.

Please pray with us that God will help him find the perfect job and that he will have peace while we wait.

Lizzie

will pray for someone with an open heart who will listen to God’s calling to hire Lee. I’m sure Lee will make an excellent worker. 🙂

I don’t know if it will be a comfort or not but the truth is finding a job today can be very hard. My son-in-law worked for a major corporation and they are closing their doors locally. He has been searching for a year. He has a college degree and a high security clearance. He too has had trouble even getting an interview and almost never even gets an acknowledgement of receipt of his resume. It is discouraging. Please pray for him and his family as I pray for you and Lee. I know that the Lord has the perfect place for both of these men and I pray that when they start working there that the Christian men who already work there will be ready and willing to witness to the men in our lives that we love. God Bless, Pam, South Bend

We were talking about this last night for some reason or other. David said that the most popular work for former inmates was yard work, moving work, and plumber’s assistant work. I hope that helps. It seems like those places are less concerned about a criminal record.

I know how tough it is to look for a job at all, and your situation must make it even more difficult! I will certainly be praying that he finds the right one.

I will keep this at the top of my prayer list. I think a whole lot of people are having trouble getting jobs right now.

Interestingly enough, there was an article in the Detroit Freepress just the other day about companies being encouraged to hire “ex-cons”. They are being provided with tax credits for offering them employment, tuition reimbursement and/or vocational training. I thought of Lee’s job-hunting when I read that article.

I had thought of that and was afraid that might happen when he went to find employment. It’s an obstacle, but God has brought you guys this far and is not going to let it hold him back. Lee will find a job. I will pray that it happens soon, and that (as transitiongirl said) the right employer will be fair and compassionate and hire him. You guys are in my prayers.

I have written before about my uncle also being in prison. He wa able to find a permanent job through Temp Staff, which I believe you mentioned Lee has done. Once he worked there a few times, they were impressed and hired him. God has the right job for Lee, I know you know this, may God give you the grace until you find ut!
