How to study a Bible passage

When I was reading Changed Into His Image, I copied this onto a sheet of paper to put into my Bible.  I’ve been meaning to share it here but things have been a bit crazy lately.

When you are reading a passage the first thing to ask is,

*What does this passage reveal about Jesus Christ?

Think on that attribute or character of Christ.  Let’s say that the passage speaks about God’s faithfulness. So ask yourself,

*What is this?

(what is faithfulness?)

*What else do I know about this?

*Who else in the Bible experienced this?

*Who else in the Bible demonstrates this?

*How has God demonstrated this to me?

*How am I doing with being Christlike in this regard?

I think that asking these questions while reading a passage really helps me to concentrate on God and desire further study. It beats skimming a passage and thinking my Bible reading is done for the day.

I also think that very possibly you (or I) could read the same passage or study the same attribute of Christ in other passages for more than one day. It could lead to a notebook full of wonderful notes!
