10 years
by adustyframe ~ June 26th, 2008Recently, Lee and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. Long ago, I planned that our 10 year anniversary would be big. Second honeymoon maybe? An anniversary band? Maybe even renewing our vows.
Somewhere along the line, I figured we’d never have a tenth anniversary.
We aren’t in any position to take a big trip, buy diamonds, or throw a party, so all the original ideas are out but we’re definitely celebrating the fact that we are still married.
We spent our actual anniversary afternoon waiting at the parole officers office for an appointment. Not too romantic is it?
Lee and I decided that if something worked out later this year, we’d try to get away for a few days.
A girl from church is getting married this weekend in another town. I’m playing the piano for her wedding and since I had to go, Lee asked his parole officer for permission to go along with me and she said yes!
We get to go for one night. We tried for two (haha) but that idea didn’t last long.
We are leaving tomorrow and while much of our time will be taken up with wedding stuff, we’re still calling it our own special weekend away.
James will hang out with his cousin and aunt.
Here are some requests:
- You can pray for James. He is clingy and worried lately. Tonight he asked me what happens to him if I die in a car accident. I wish with all my heart that I could promise him that I won’t. Since I can’t do that, we talked about trusting God and telling him our worries. I hate that he’s worried about that. If you think of him, please pray that God will flood his heart with peace and that he can enjoy his weekend.
- Of course you can pray for our safety as well.
- My hands! Sometimes since my neck was injured (years ago), I get headaches and my hands fall asleep. When that happens playing the piano is difficult. Saturday would NOT be a good day for that to happen.
I have enjoyed spending our “anniversary season” playing so much wedding music. It’s a precious reminder of our special day. Lee and I are looking forward to some much needed alone time. Thank you for praying for us.
***Works of God Weekend will resume next week***

I am so glad you have this time to be alone together at least for a while and to do something that is normal and celebratory and fun. Happy anniversary!
Thank you, Barbara. Feeling normal even for such a short time was a wonderful blessing.

Oh Lizzie! Happy, happy anniversary. And joy of all joys being able to go away with Lee overnight! A little mini vacation. You both need one
God is indeed the great restorer, isn’t He? I too doubted I’d get to 10 years at one point. Now, I’m eagerly looking forward to it (in 4 years, but still!)
Thank you. Yes, the restoration has been amazing to see.

What a blessing 10 years! Enjoy your weekend getaway!
10 years! Yes a blessing I often thought we would never see.

Congratulations
You are 1 1/2 years ahead of me. I am amazed that I still have a strong marriage after 8 1/2 years – I mean, I don’t think I would put up with myself for that long! God is indeed gracious to us isn’t He? I am so thrilled that you can celebrate your ‘still togetherness’ after all you have been through and are still going through…Oh, and when this is finally finally over, you have to post a front wedding picture
Have a wonderful weekend. Praying for James and your hands.
God is very gracious indeed. Thank you for your prayers.

Happy Anniversary! To God be the glory!
We spent our tenth anniversary with an overnight getaway to a friend’s wedding too. My husband sang and I did a reading. I love going to weddings, and it was such a fun way to celebrate our own anniversary!
I pray you will be blessed, and I will be praying for James too. He needs his dad back. I pray that the parole officer will come to understand that!
Thank you. I appreciate your prayers. Especially the ones asking God to let James have his daddy back.
