How about calling this Books YOU suggest?
by adustyframe ~ July 1st, 2008I have a pile of books that I have told myself must be finished this summer.
For James they are Tom Sawyer and Peter Pan. For me the list is lengthier.
1. Charlotte Mason original homeschool series #6
2. I Remember Laura (I started this in the winter but never finished it)
3. A Pocketful of Pinecones
4. For The Children’s Sake
5. My Heart’s Desire (David Jeremiah a book on worship)
6. The History of Knitting in America. (It’s actually quite interesting!)
7. Red Hot Mongamy (;) I will keep my comments on this book to myself!)
8. The Golden Road (or something like that. It’s an LM Montgomery book I never read.)
I wanted to read a biography or two. The Laura one is on my list, and I did read LM Montgomery’s earlier this spring. I want to read at least one more this summer.
Who did you absolutely adore reading about? It doesn’t have to be about an author, but I would like it to be interesting.

You might also enjoy a new biography on Laura Ingalls Wilder, called “A Writer’s Life”, by Pamela Smith Hill — it’s probably the best I’ve read thus far on LIW…
I will have to look for that:)!

Right now my sister and I are enjoying reading Trenton Stuart Lee’s “The Mysterious Benedict Society” and “The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey.” They’re kids books, but fun, well-written, and have you on the edge of your seat. It may not be something James is ready for yet, but check it out.
I always love these books as well:
“The Bronze Bow” by Elizabeth George Spear
“They Loved to Laugh” by Kathryn Worth
“Carry On, Mr. Bowditch” by Jean Lee Latham.

The biographies that I’ve enjoyed most are Evidence Not Seen (about a female missionary that was separated from her husband in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp during WWII) and God’s Smuggler (about brother Andrew bringing Bibles into Communist countries).
