One particular family at church has been a huge help to me.

They’ve watched James for me many times. They took him to AWANA and kept him on Wednesday nights last year so that I had a “for sure” day to see Lee.

When he was released, she kept James much of the first week so that I could spend time with Lee and help him with his running around.

When I call her, asking for help with James, she’s very honest with me. If it’s not a good time she tells me. I am thankful for her honesty. I know that when she says yes she means it and isn’t saying yes but wishing she didn’t have to help me.

The past couple of weeks, she’s called me to see when I need help. Then she says, “I don’t always want you to have to ask.”

What a blessing! Always having to ask for help gets difficult. I’ve skipped events that I probably would have gone to simply because I get tired of asking people to help me with James.

This couple’s thoughtfulness blesses my heart so much. They don’t read my blog so I can brag on them like crazy.

I am so thankful to have people in my circle that think ahead to needs I may have and offer help.

If you know a single mom, offer to help her once in awhile just so she doesn’t have to call. You never know what burdens this simple gesture may help relieve.

I became a single mom when my daughter was 10 years old (she is now 39, married and a wonderful mom). There were several people from our church who were wonderful to us. My mom would also offer-often to spend time with her….so I didn’t have to ask…You are so right Lizzie….if you know a single parent don’t wait to be asked….don’t say if you need something let me know….say “I’m available to spend time with your precious child next week….what day would be good for you?” God Bless, Pam, South Bend

Thanks for your comments! I like hearing from people who were there before me and survived!

We had a friend over to play on Saturday morning and when her mom picked her up, she offered to take your niece for the afternoon too so I could finish cleaning the garage….that was an unexpected blessing. It is nice not to have to ask for help.

Very nice of her to take my niece:)!. Did you get the garage cleaned? You know I’d take her if we lived out there.
