Precious Memories
by adustyframe ~ September 14th, 2008Yesterday, I took James and his cousin to children’s day at a local construction company.
They had all sorts of activities for the kids to check out. Of course the big trucks were all around too.
One activity was digging for pretty rocks in a huge pile of sand.
James and his cousin finally found a spot with several treasures and they dug and dug adding more stones to their collection.
After awhile, James asked if he could share them with other kids. I told him of course he could.
So he smiled at me and tossed a few rocks toward another group of children. Then he stood and watched until one found his stones and hollered, “I found one!” James looked at me and smiled. He was so happy to watch the other children’s excitement.
One thing that I’ve always been proud of him for is his compassion for other children and his willingness to share.
Then tonight after church, we got in the car and he said, “One thing I want to say! You are the best mommy in the whole world. You take care of me. You don’t lie to me. You do fun things with me.”
Talk about a moment to melt my heart! I couldn’t resist the temptation to ask, “Anything else?”
He listed a few more things and then said, “So don’t you think we should stop at McDonalds and get a $1 ice cream cone?”
Haha! I guess he was buttering me up! That’s ok, I enjoyed his compliments anyway.

I totally remember doing that to my dad, saying super nice things (that I meant but usually didn’t say) and then asking for something. It worked a lot of the time. Now that I’m a mom I can see why

Hi Lizzie, I just wanted to let you know that you are all linked up on Blog Around the World. I included you in the Christian Moms and the Homeschooling Moms. Don’t worry about not telling me where you live. That’s not a problem. I see that you read Angel’s blog. She is a friend of mine in real life! It is nice to meet you!

That’s just too cute, but you should come to our neighborhood, our McD’s has ice cream cones for .50c all summer.
