Books again
by adustyframe ~ September 17th, 2008I finished To Kill A Mockingbird. It was very good. I rented the Gregory Peck movie and my apologies to those who loved this movie, I thought it stunk! It was slow moving and that poor little girl had such a horrible hair cut!
The book was MUCH better! I even ordered a copy from paperbackswap to have on my own shelf.
I started Truman by David McCullough. I heard that Mrs. Bush loves his books and people on the Ambleside yahoo list were talking about them recently. I don’t know much about Truman so I chose that one.
Let me tell you, it’s a BOOK! Wow, it’s huge. I’ve only started it but I find it interesting so far.
Have you read any of David McCullough’s books?

I read McCullough’s biography of John Adams. I loved it. It read like a novel and even though I knew the end of the story, it was a page turner!

I’ve been trying to read 1776 for a few months, and have thoroughly enjoyed what I’ve read, but haven’t had a chance to finish it, due to my crazy schedule.
Note that that sentence was totally written in a conversational style, not intended for correct English format. I was a history major in college and think that anyone would find his writing style conducive to finding history fun and exciting!
I was just skimming through an article I read in college about Truman and would love to read McCullough’s book. He seems to be an interesting character. Let me know what you think!

See? TKAM was fabulous! And the movie is never as good as the book.

I agree that TKAM movie wasn’t that great… kinda boring. When I watched it, I nearly flew asleep. Didn’t do the book justice.

I read To Kill A Mockingbird earlier this year. Hated it when I had to read it for school. Loved it this time around.
