Works of God Weekend

by adustyframe ~ September 20th, 2008

It’s that time again! What has God been doing in your life? Were you blessed in unexpected (or expected!) ways?

Was your church service last week  a blessing? Did you learn something in Bible study? Were you shown a kindness at just the right time? Have you heard a new song that blesses your heart?
All these are examples of what I’m looking for in Works of God Weekend.

Yes, parting the sea was a work of God, but he also moves in other meaningul ways in our lives that would be “smaller” than that. I’m a firm believer in the truth that anything God does for us is big!

So, please think of something God has done in your life and share it.

It can be a post from anytime in the last month or a comment here if you don’t have a blog.

*As always, you can take the graphic for your post!*

    Lizzie,
It blessed our heart to hear how God provided boots for Lee. PRAISE God!!!
My husband received good report on a MRA done as a follow up on and ultra sound. Doctor said no surgery right now. They will check every six months. Also I had an eye examine and everything is still good. No new glasses needed right now. Strength to do the things we need to each day.

Hi Lizzie! I had a really nice experience with my mother-in-law this week. She and I used to be at odds (a really big understatement), so this is really a continued work of God in our relationship.

We recently moved right across the road from my inlaws. One day this week, my daughter and I stopped in for a few minutes on a whim. Just as we were planning to leave, my MIL asked if she could bounce some things off me. “I know you won’t really tell me what you think, but I’m going to share this anyway,” she said.

She opened up and shared a struggle she was having in a relationship with someone else. We had a wonderful conversation. Because of the “root of bitterness” I had had in my heart toward her several years before (which God helped to root out and heal), I was able to help identify the same root that was strangling her heart regarding the relationship she was struggling with.

She had never heard the verse Hebrews 12:15: “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” It wasn’t something I had been thinking on, but the verse sprang to my mind during our conversation and I thank God for bringing to remembrance His word at the appropriate time.

The Lord had also been sharing many verses with me during a study I was doing on love. As I was typing up my notes, I realized the notes were a good follow-up on our conversation and shared them with her. She enjoyed them very much.

I love how God works. When we pause and take a step back, we can get a glimpse of all the pieces coming together and that He is working something intricately wonderful. Even (and often, especially) the excrutiating times in our life produce precious fruit that can feed others later.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” — Romans 8:28
