Now we know

by adustyframe ~ November 4th, 2008

I am not happy about the results. I have not made this blog a political blog, that’s not the purpose of it, but tonight I wanted to share my thoughts.

I prayed for a very different outcome but today I had great peace after I voted.

I know that God is in control. He is no different tonight than he was this morning.

I sat in amazement tonight and will admit to feeling sick as the results rolled in. While I vehemently disagree with our President elect on a myriad of issues, I will pray for him and for this country I love.

I will pray too for President Bush. His work is not done. His last days will be hard and he will not be treated with the dignity his office calls for.

I will pray for my family, my friends, and this country. Tonight, I was thankful that we elect our leaders peacefully. Whether or not we like them, we don’t wage wars to change them.

Here’s a link with a reminder that we are very blessed to live here.

I too was dissapoionted for you and for us all. But as you said, the Lord is in control, no matter who has some power on earth. It is funny because to me it makes no difference whetehr he is afican american or not- it is the policies I see. But as my husband reminded me, the race issue has long and strong roots in the USA and stil has the power to hurt and stir peple up.

Amen, Lizzie. As you said, God is in control and will never leave the throne. He knows what He’s doing and where this is going. Besides, my husband and I were just talking about the fact that here, in a democracy, it’s not as if our lives will be so directly affected as to change them significantly (here in MA they just de-criminalized “small amounts of marijuana; whoopie).

We are still the ones raising our kids. No social change is going to create spiritual change one way or the other. I also voted differently, but trusting in God’s sovereign rule, I just can’t get that worked up.
    Have a blessed day!

    Amen and amen!

I meant to say about the election, but my phone rang and I hit the submit button too early.lol

My grandchildren had a mock election
at their school and had the same outcome.
They were disappointed too…..I told them that we will have this new president and we
must pray for him to have wisdom and for the safety of his family whether we voted for him or not….God is still in charge of our lives

I too will pray for our President, although I did not choose him. I hope that he likewise will pray and work for the country.

On Monday, I was nervous all day, but I prayed as I went to bed and was at peace all day on Tuesday…..God is in control of the universe, not the President of the USA…..I think we forget that sometimes.

Thanks for your encouragement to remain gracious even in “defeat”. I have been having an interesting time at work…learning to keep my mouth shut. Which is a good lesson. Our results in WA were discouraging, especially with the passing of an assisted suicide bill, but one good thing that has come out is that many local doctors are standing up to say that they will not participate in hurrying someones demise. So yes, God is still on His throne…

You’re right. I also think that now more than ever we must pray pray pray!
