Could you?
by adustyframe ~ November 9th, 2008If you were asked what being saved means could you tell someone?
If someone came to you wanting the peace and joy you have, could you open you Bible and show them what God himself says?
I thought about this question this morning as we were studying Romans in the morning worship service. I have verses marked in my Bible and at the end of each verse it tells me which verse to go to next.
Here is one way you can walk through verses to share the plan of salvation with someone else.
Start at
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous no not one:
at the end of that verse write Rm 3:23
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;
then write Rm 5:8
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
After that verse write Rm 5:12
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned.
Then write Rm 6:23
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Write Rm 10:9,10
Romans 10: 9,10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confessions is made unto salvation.
Write Eph. 2:8,9
Ephesians 2:8, 9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Not of works lest any man should boast.
Then mark Romans 5:1
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
Then Romans 8:1
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
By taking a few minutes and marking these verses in your Bible, you will be able to confidently walk someone through the basic doctrines of salvation. (This is not the only way to share God’s plan of salvation with others. I’ve seen many different sets of verses.)
1. We are all sinners.
2. Christ died for us.
3. We must believe that he died to pay for our sin and that he rose again.
4. We must realize that we can do nothing to earn this free gift.
If you don’t care to write in your Bible, put these references on a bookmark and keep it in your Bible.

I really like the idea of noting what verse to go to next right in your Bible. I’m a highlighter, but never much of a note writer. I like your idea – it easily pulls it all together!
You are welcome! Glad to share.

Thank you for sharing. I’ve been feeling a bit disconnected from my Bible time lately. A few weeks ago I thought maybe I’d do something like this in my own Bible. Well, the thought flittered away but now it is back. Now, I have NO excuse. I need to be ready. And what a great way to get my mind and my heart back into my Bible!!

I keep the Romans Road written down on an index card in my Bible. I can use it to look up verses if I forget, and also to put under the words as I am showing someone.
