Dark Pursuit by Brandilyn Collins~book review

by adustyframe ~ November 17th, 2008

I stumbled on Brandilyn Collins’ books a couple of years ago. I was at the library and recognized her name from a blog I had read. I don’t remember which book I read first but I remember being unsure because I do not like reading suspense.

Her book was good. Her writing is very well done. Her characters are enjoyable and the suspense is very good. It’s frightening enough to keep me turning the pages but its not gory or nasty.

She also weaves in stories about relationships, prayer, and coming to God.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw on her blog
that advance copies of her new book were being offered in exchange for a review. I jumped at the chance!

I really enjoyed her Kenner Lake series but the last one of those has been written. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a whole new cast of characters, but Dark Pursuit didn’t disappoint.

The story revolves around Kaitlan, her boyfriend, and her grandfather–an aging suspense novelist.

Kaitlan, a previous drug addict, has turned her life around but her relationship with her grandfather is still damaged. Her grandfather struggles to write his 100th novel after an accident.

There have been 2 murders in her town and she’s about to find out that there has been a 3rd. She suspects her boyfriend, a police officer, of being involved.

Dark Pursuit kept me  reading far into the night last night. I read the whole book yesterday afternoon and evening. I stayed up late partly because the story was so good and I wanted to know what was happening and partly because it was a bit scary and I couldn’t go to bed when I was in the scary part!

The ending has a shocking twist that I never expected but I won’t give that away. You’ll have to read it and find out for yourself.

**Just a little repost because the book is now published and should be in your bookstore soon!**
