Battling Discouragement

by adustyframe ~ November 18th, 2008

I have been battling discouragement for the last week. Just some things we’re dealing with and then while I was feeling low, I found myself in the middle of a personal conflict with an individual.

I felt so defeated!

Did you ever notice how that works? When we’re down and trying to keep our heads above water something else always comes along!

One day last week, I was walking through the house saying, “I will praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord.”

My usual response to stress is to shut down and fall asleep. That’s what I did one day last week. I sat down on the couch feeling overwhelmed and upset.

I zonked out and slept for awhile. I had briefly prayed before I fell asleep but instead of turning everything over to God, I continued to stew a bit. As I woke up, I felt the Lord was telling me I wasn’t trusting.

So, I’ve spent the last days trying to trust. Trying to turn everything over to God and trying to keep discouragment from taking over!

You can pray for us. Lee and I both get so tired and it’s easy to fall prey to discouragement and despair.

Isiah 61:3

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes,

the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD,

that he might be glorified.

Oh, Lizzie, hang on. It is so hard to endure when we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Your tunnel has been long and dark. But I admire you so much! Just think of that–I am a total stranger to you but your life, your persistence, your courage, and your faith have touched me.
And, personally, sometimes when I am so discouraged, I am tired physically and/or emotionally. Resting and sleeping (within reason) can be very helpful.
God is light in the tunnel.

Thank you, Judy for your kind thoughts!

It is always the way when we are down and not leaving it with the Lord , the devil sneaks in and troubles us more.
I find personally when I am low I draw closer to the Lord but when things are going well I sometimes forget to thank the Lord.
The Lord hears our prayers and can conquer all things that trouble us. Its leaving it with the Lord and not taking it back and hanging it around our necks and burdening ourselves with it that is the hard part.
I will pray for you both.
