What’s for dinner tonight?
by adustyframe ~ December 2nd, 2008I’m just curious! I have split pea soup in the crockpot.
The only “recipe” I follow for it is 1 c. peas to 4 c. water.
Today, I put in
2 c. of peas
8 c. water
6 potatoes, chopped
3 celery sticks, finely diced
1 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 bag baby carrots
1/2 lb of turkey ham, diced
My friend Joy said she hates split pea soup but she liked mine when she was here! It’s perfect for a cold day.
What are you having tonight?

We’re just having salad tonight. Too many nights in a row of rich Thanksgiving food and leftovers!
I love split pea soup, but I’m the only one in the family who does. Yum!!

Kielbasa and Pierogies – can you tell we’re Polish? But we looove split pea soup – and I love your crockpot idea. I’ve never made it in the crock pot before. There’s nothing like a thick split pea soup with a hunk of crusty bread on a cold snowy day!

I’m really blah on cooking right now! I fried some pork chops, made a box of stuffing, fixed some green beans and set out a can of pineapple. Guess that’ll do. I have no more motivation!! At least I got it done early enough to enjoy the day!

I’m not a big pea fan but your soup sounds good. I think I would have to add some cubed ham pieces…thanks for the inspiration

My son’s chorus performed in the park tonight for Christmas event, so we stopped at our favorite Mexican restaurant on the way home for dinner. Chicken enchiladas. Yum.

I fixed chicken chow mein over brown rice.
Tomorrow I am making 15 bean soup with smoked saugage. I have the beans soaking now. We love pea soup. I made some last week with ham hocks.
