School Stuff

by adustyframe ~ December 10th, 2008

Our school year has been going very well. We are going to have school this week and then we’re taking off 3 weeks for Christmas.

We did a lot of extra work over the last 2 weeks and we will this week too in order to have the freedom to take a longer break.

My family is coming for Christmas (not all of them) but we’re so excited and I want to have time to get ready and enjoy their visit.

One of our November projects was to count our blessings. We do a project like this at least once a year. Last year we did leaf shapes.

This year, I traced James foot and we made a turkey. I cut out feathers from small scraps of scrapbook paper and each morning, we wrote something we are thankful for on a feather.

He’s finally nice and full so I thought I’d share him with you. It looks like God takes good care of us doesn’t it?

I think this exercise is important for each one of us, but I think it’s crucial for us. We have so much that just plain stinks! If we don’t take time to recognize all the wonderful things God does for us on a daily basis, it would be too easy for us to wallow in the bad.

What a cute turkey! Hearing about your homeschool activities is one of my favorite topics. I can see how much fun you both have with it.

What a wonderful idea. So cute! We do a Thanksgiving tree and write on the leaves what we are thankful for, but I might try this next year.
I have been praying for you. And for Lee and the parole officer. That fair and right decisions will be made. You have been such an example to all of us through this of believing God even when things aren’t perfect, or even aren’t good at all. Thank you.

I think we all need to work at being thankful, whether we’re in difficult or delightful circumstances. If we’re in the happy, easy, lovely times and don’t give thanks, we’re all to likely to forget Who gave us those blessings.
