Works of God Weekend

by adustyframe ~ December 12th, 2008

This sort of went out the window with my crazy Friday last week!

Here’s the deal. I NEED to read your blessings and hear how God is working in your life.

This is always a huge encouragement to me, so help me out and share your blessings ok?

Here are ours

1. James won a $25 gift certificate at the Tae Kwon Do Christmas party tonight. When he has testing for the next belt in January, this will cover most of the fee!

2. I’ve sold a few things that I didn’t expect to sell.

3. I have two potential piano students lined up for January.

4. My sister is coming for Christmas!!!!!

5. James and I accomplished a month of work in the last couple weeks and we are READY for Christmas break starting Friday as soon as school is done!

Your turn! (pretty please…)

    1. We got a 5 figure inheretance at just the right time. We were able to replace a run down vehicle.
    2. My family is very healthy when everyone around us is battling something.
    3. My daughter would rather watch her Jesus shows, than her PBS shows. Praise God for her little desire for Jesus.

One of my blessings, is seeing how easy our life is compared to others. What I mean is, it isn’t really easy, but when I read your blog, and others, it puts it all into perspective. I’m praying for God’s continued grace and peace for you during this holiday season.

    Other blessings:

    1. Being at home everyday with my children.
    2. Living much closer to my extended family than we have for a number of years.
    3. Finding a good church with people who seem to be truly walking with Christ.
    4. Seeing the Lord’s hand of protection and direction in our daily lives.
    5. Having light in my kitchen in dining room – the bulbs blew and we couldn’t figure out how to get the shades off in the new apartment – we were pretty dark for almost a week.
    6. The ice storm – it makes the trees awful pretty.

and on and on and on. I’m working really hard to see what the Lord is doing, because this is the time of year when I easily become discouraged and all that we don’t have and can’t do — by the worlds standards…

    Thanks for challenging me.

    Blessings, Maggieraye

    2. Youngest son came home from church with a fever and needed supplemental oxygen. Prayed with dh. Hubby went to work and prayed with a friend. 30 mins later son’s fever is gone another 30 mins and need for supplemental oxygen is gone.

    3. Middle son got a job.

    4. We’ve been blessed with extra money. Hubby with tears in eyes wants to bless another family for Christmas with the money. (There is enough!)Our church has a family in mind.

I’ve just finished catching up on the last week and a half of posts. I continue to pray for your family as well as the decision makers.

As I read, I was reminded of something that happened to my dad years ago. It was around this time of year (I think), very cold, and one of the men at the factory pulled out some beer which they were sharing. When my dad was offered a sip, he did not refuse. It was against the rules to drink at the factory and the men were caught. They did a test, and because my dad had had so very little, he passed, but he confessed anyway. He was suspended without pay. My mom was furious…that he’d done it (my parents didn’t even drink), and that he’d confessed. Living on a single income with 5 kids and just before Christmas…they couldn’t afford to lose that income. I don’t know exactly how God provided, since I was a child, but I know that He did. I was also old enough to know that my Dad had done the right thing and confessed, even when he could have gotten away with it. I don’t know how God used that in the other people’s lives, but He used it in my life to plant that seed of integrity deep within. I have so much respect for my father, and honestly, so little respect for how my mom responded (though I love her dearly!…she still gets upset when it’s brought up!). Anyway, God is always at work, and He will continue to provide. I’m living proof.

    Grace and Peace,
    Angel

Thank you for sharing this story, Angel. I pray that God will use all these lessons in James’ life and grow him into a godly man.

my dad whom is an alcoholic went to a pshycriatric interview the other day. it lasted 3 hrs and he finally told us y it was so long yesterday. apparently he finally gave in and told the lady everything that was on his mind, everything in his soul so to speak. they have decided treating him for depression may be a good idea and hes going for a conference next week to decide if he should start some kind of therapy besides his inpatient rehab. the first thing he told my mom after the interview was he was stopping drinking but that he needed our help to do it…my father has never asked for help ever..i’ve been praying over him for years to resolve this addiction…and i think god is finally helping him. it makes me so happy that i might get my daddy back….as usual i will still pray for him and hope that he triumphs this hardship. thanx for listening!

We recently celebrated our tenth anniversary. I cannot begin to describe how He has grown us, individually and also as a couple, in the last ten years. He is mighty!!

Hearing my son pray for the homeless … not an abstract prayer just for God to help the homeless, but asking Him to use us to help others. Thankful for and humbled by God’s work in my son’s heart.

I’ve had a rough several weeks spiritually battling something, but this week I’m finding windows of encouragement and grace and hope … pushing through it instead of staying angry and discouraged. Jesus is walking with me though this.

God has done a wonderful work in my husband’s heart, and my husband is listening, encouraging, patient, understanding, and full of grace towards me as I work through some difficult things.

I am continuing to praise God for His plan that has brought us to where we are now (both where we live and His work to grow us as a family). It’s not a work of God specific to THIS week, but I can’t stop thanking Him for it … ever. And I praise Him for the continuous overall plan in our family. Although I can’t see the big picture, I tangibly sense there is a bigger picture and that the step-by-step work He does every week is furthering the larger work for His Kingdom. I pray to be honest and keep the faith, not giving up … and to honor and glorify God.

OK, so how about a work of God almost Wednesday ? :)
David had to catch the train to London on Saturday as he does once a month for seminary. He forgot his mobile but I just assumed he had arrived safely. The phone went at 1.50. It was David and he had only just got into the train station in London. Due to very very heavy rain fall teh lines had been flooded. He said it felt as if the train might leave the track. I think everyione was relieved to get to theri destination. But then of course he had to get back again (he made it to 1 lecture!) He went to the station and got on a train- it turned out to be the first train that day running straight through on the way back! So although it was slower than usualy he was home by 9.45 pm- muich better than teh 1am I had been envisaging. (once arriving at the station he also had a 40 minute drive back here). So we are so thankful to God for His safe keeping- everyday, but especially on Saturday.
