New Year’s Goals
by adustyframe ~ January 1st, 2009Laurel Wreath is hosting a New Year’s Meditations Carnival. Since I’m thinking about this stuff today, I thought I’d participate.
Barbara at Stray Thoughts talked about New Year’s Goals. I like that so much better than resolutions that I’m not going to keep anyway!
Physical
1. I will continue to work out and eat healthier. I’ve lost 16 lbs this year and made exercise a much better part of my routine. I need to continue that.
I had a few setbacks–for example a broken toe! I haven’t exercised since the 1st of November due to the pain. I thought I was being a baby until I finally went to the Dr. 2 weeks ago and found out it was broken. I mentioned the swelling here.
2. Get more sleep. This could be worded better like this–”Don’t stay up until 2 a.m. on a consistent basis!”
Homemaking
1. Continue to de-clutter. I was doing pretty good until I closed the store last year. So much came home with me that hasn’t quite been disposed of, sold, or given away.
2. Finish painting the cupboards and bathroom? I don’t know about this one. I don’t have much oomph for big projects.
3. Find ways to make our home pleasant and a retreat from our life stress.
Spiritually
1. Read one or two biographies of Christians of the past.
2. Work harder on being consistent with Bible reading and prayer
Marriage
1. Don’t give up
2. Don’t allow the opinions and thoughts of others to interfere with what I know to be God’s will for my life.
3. Continue to choose to be my husband’s helpmeet no matter where he is.
Business
1. Get my photography business up and running. This means I need to register with the state, get business cards, keep improving!
2. Continue to sell online, Etsy, Ebay, Craigslist (whatever works for the item!)
Ministry
1. Continue to help and encourage in whatever ways I can. I tried harder last year to ask the pastor’s wife what she could use help with. That was a blessing to me, hopefully it was to her too!
2. I was elected deaconess for the next 2 years. This position means I help prepare communion, help in the dressing rooms when women are baptized, and help pastor if he asks for help counseling women. This will probably keep me a little busier than I have been.
3. Continue blogging and sharing what God has taught me.
Creativity
1. Continue to work on my projects I enjoy.
2. Clean out the craft cupboard!!!
3. Use up the yarn and scrapbooking supplies I have. Yarn is the worst! I continually say “I’m not getting any more yarn” but then I find a project to do that needs something I don’t have.
Even though I find it cheaply and don’t get into “exotic” yarns, I need to use up what I have purchased or been given.
So how about you?

Wow! Your goals are so… in order. I’m impressed. I blogged about my goals this morning but one big one is to read the entire Bible this year. I started a blog about it and now there are a whole bunch of us on board. Feel free to stop on by if you want to join us (or direct anyone our way)!

Wow! Now I really feel bad about not making any resolutions! Maybe I’ll have to think about it and make some.

Last year I resolved to clean at least one drawer, closet, cupboard each day untill the whole house was clean and decluttered….somedays it was only a drawer…some days it was a whole room.
It is an awesome feeling to have “a place for everything and everything in it’s place”.
As far a spiritually, for several years I have used Daily Bread as my primary devotional followed by the reading of a Proverb (#1 on the first of the month #2 on the second of the month and so on). I also read at least one Psalm and other days 3 or 4.
Lizzie you always give us lots to think about and I appreciate that. God Bless, Pam

Thanks for sharing your goals. Fun to read.
My goal for this year is rather broad but simple: “Be intentional.”

Go go go on all of them but especially the marriage ones
Keep on keeping on as my mum tells me. Interesting about the deaconess thing- not going to get into the role of women in the church now, but I kind of do those things too- just without a title
I don’t really like the “title” either;) But it’s not any sort of leadership role over the men so I’m ok with it.:)

Can I just say hang on to this one “Don’t allow the opinions and thoughts of others to interfere with what I know to be God’s will for my life.” I have been on there, not in your situation but on the receiving line of opinions. Hang on to God.
Thank you so much for participating, I enjoyed reading your list and found myself nodding as I was reading. Happy New Year.

What an awesome list of goals and so well-rounded! Covering almost every aspect of life, I think. ‘course, one or two of them I probably need to add to my own list of goals so that’ll keep me thinking. Thanks for sharing!!! Blessings.
