New Year’s Discipline
by adustyframe ~ January 8th, 2009One of my New Year’s goals is to get better sleep at night by not staying up so late!
So far every night this week I’ve gone to bed much earlier than my previous 2 a.m. bedtime.
My plan is to get up at 6:15-6:30. That’s been a bit difficult the past 2 days, but I’m doing better than I was.
I don’t feel rested yet and I don’t feel like it’s a habit, but hopefully soon it will be.
We’re also working hard to start school on time. We were getting a bit sloppy. I truly feel that as long as we get the work done in the day it doesn’t really matter what time the work gets done.
However, I’ve been working on a schedule and a way to accomplish more in the day with less feeling like a chicken with my head cut off.
I made a chore chart for James with his morning, afternoon, and evening chores. I told him it’s his job to do those things without being told. It’s working well… so far!
I’m also doing the clean out a drawer/cupboard per day. I used to do this all the time but had gotten away from it. Pam mentioned it in the comments and I decided to do it again!
So 8 days into the New Year and I’m doing good. We’ll have to see how long it lasts.

I once had a Pastor, who in encouraging people to Bible read everyday said “it takes 14 days to form a habit” not sure how he came up with that number. You have a good start keep it up.

I like your resolution–I tend to stay up too late, too! I was doing really well through Christmas, but then reverted for a couple of nights… We always have the best homeschool days when I get up an hour before the boys!

I’m praying about your situation! Two things:
1. I nominated you for the “A Lovely Blog award.” I was nominated here http://ohpeacefulday.blogspot.com/ your announcement is on my blog here http://ohpeacefulday.blogspot.com/
2. I’ve had an overdraft of around $600 for a few months. I have despaired over it, but kept praying. Yesterday in my email was a note saying the reimbursement for my extra moving expenses has finally cleared ($300). Next was an email from my boss asking for my mileage form–had I forgotten it? (just about $200). Then I was going thru a stack of junk mail and saw what looked like a check from our old Rural Electric company. It was (almost $200). Overdraft will be clear when the reimbursements arrive. God provides in such interesting ways!
