Notes from Lee
by adustyframe ~ January 10th, 2009I got a letter from Lee today. He has been feeling pretty low. If you read Celina’s comments on any of the posts dealing with our new situation, she has pegged him pretty well.
I was happy to read these essays he copied into a letter for me and I will share them with you.
Thankful
I’m thankful for the hard mattress I sleep on; Some only have the hard ground.
I’m thankful for the cell I sleep in–warm, dry , safe. Some have no heat, no shelter, no security.
I’m thankful for the food I receive, not like Mom’s (he wrote a note “or my wife’s”) but it’s from my Father. Some have to beg, scrounge, or even go without.
I’m thankful for the friends, family, volunteers, and ministries who give so much to help me stay close to family and God. Some are persecuted, imprisoned, and even killed trying to learn and speak his Word.
It may not look like paradise, but it’s his way, his plan for me, and he has blessed me with gifts of knowledge, friends, and his love.
For all this I am thankful.
God is With Me
When my day is lonely and depressing (he wrote “everyday!”), God is with me.
When my heart dies because I miss my family, friends, and loved ones, God is with me.
When I overcome a hardship or problems, God is with me.
When I receive a special letter or visit, God is with me.
When my day is filled with hope and joy, God is with me.

I’m so glad that the Lord is lifting him up and holding him close. And that Lee can be thankful in the midst of this. Really puts me to shame. I respect him more and more.
I’m sure that all the prayers help him. This has been a huge struggle for him to not give in and I’m sure he’s not out of the woods yet! Thank you for praying.

I’m praying for Lee that he will be released soon and that he will continue from his positive choice to admiting to breaking part of his probation. I pray that he will have the strength to make the best choices in the future so that he will soon be home with you and your son. The words in his essays are so true and have that pared down quality that we get when we really have time to think about our lives. I feel that I should pray for good friends for him, both where he is now and when he is released. People who will support and encourage him and be companions when he needs them.
Bless you guys. x
Thank you for praying!

Oh my…I’m glad he is still counting his
blessings, but it sounds so sad….he is a blessed man to have you and the Lord. Pam
Thank you, Pam.

he seems to be trying to rally, the power of positive thinking..the more he tells himself he’s lucky, the more he’ll be able to pick himself back up….
I pray he can do just that…you aren’t going anywhere..neither is james….It’s always so easy to fail….especially when we’re being watched to do just that..
you are all in my prayers as you know…and i hope this block can be removed from hearts , mind and of course the physical block as well..
Thank you, Celina. I so appreciate your prayers and encouragement.
