School Stuff
by adustyframe ~ January 10th, 2009Our first week back to school went really well.
We accomplished everything on the schedule, updated our Book of Centuries, and did lots of great reading.
I shared our elk fun from the other day. Here are a few of the other fun things we read, did, or said during the week.
1. I told James if we finished school by a certain time each day we would play a game. This was motivation to help him go along with the new schedule more cheerfully.
We played Farkle, Uno, and Connect 4 this week.
2. We are reading Robin Hood and our favorite phrase of the week is,
“Go fetch it thine ownself.” We’ve giggled a lot trying to find ways to add it into our vocabulary.
3. When I pulled out Island Story–British History–he said, “Oh good! Violence!”
I laughed at him but he’s pretty correct. The ancient Brits weren’t very civilized!
4. We continued our Burgess reading and read about moose and caribou. The book discussed that large animals from this family are bulls, cows, calves and small animals are bucks, doe, and fawns. Before I told him what female deer are I asked if he knew. He hears about hunting and I thought he knew they were “doe”.
I said, “So males are bucks, what are females?” He gave me the answer he truly thought it was and I burst into laughter. It was so funny because he wasn’t joking.
He answered my “So males are bucks, what are females?” question with “Buck 50?”
What a funny kid!
